1.7 Stable just erased whole site

I just tried upgrading to 1.7 through the update panel inside my 1.6 version. It was taking a while... maybe 5 minutes and then the screen refreshed to a list of 3 files plus one folder. .htaccess, configuration.php, robots.txt and phocadownload folder. MY WHOLE SITE IS GONE. ALL FILES HAVE BEEN ERASED. I don't what the heck just happened. I had barely any software installed on the site as is and it was not a full live site, but one I was working on. All that work is now gone. So PLEASE be careful! I use a vps with suphp on. Don't know if that made a difference. It's always worked before.

On another server, the upgrade DID work without issue. But just letting people know what can happen.

I certainly didn't of course :-/ But fortunately it was not a production site. Still, just trying to warn people what could happen.

as reported by others too check for 3dp extensions or template not 1.7 compatible yet
