New account created, session expired, cannot login
Hi everyone
I created a new account on people.joomla.org and received an email (not the activation email, the one before that).
I was filling in my extended details (quite quickly, I thought) but when I tried to submit, I got a message to say, "Session expired. Please try again later."
I cannot try again later, because I can't log in. And when I request an activation email, it says the account is already activated. I also cannot create a new account, because my username (and email, presumably, but it checks the username first) has been used.
Any help would appreciated. Thanks.

Great, thanks so much for your help!
Any chance you can change the username from "thewub" to "jonathan_thewub" to match this one?

User Names should be a person's name, not a company name or website name.
sorry, but in line with the http://people.joomla.org/guidelines.html it is best as it is

Re: New account created, session expired, cannot login
Um, ok. My name is "Jonathan". My company name is "the wub". So at the moment as you created it the username is the company name, and that's why I wanted to change it. I'd love to have just "Jonathan" but it's taken...

Re: New account created, session expired, cannot login
the displayed name when someone looks at your profile is the important thing.
at the moment their is no mention of your company name on the displayed page (apart from your links) so that is acceptable to PJO rules and guidelines

Re: New account created, session expired, cannot login
Something is clearly wrong with that system. Now the username was free while it was taken and I could not re-register after I got session expired message.
And the session is set to like 10 seconds. If you fill any profile info on second page you will get session expired.

Re: New account created, session expired, cannot login
When I tried to register after the session expired the Username was taken and I could not re-register. After you said it was free it was free. Either someone deleted it in the meantime or it got automatically deleted after a while.
The session is too short, it's something wrong with Joomsocial -> Joomla interaction. You must have had reports on the issue, I am not the only one to report it.
Anyway, I registered now but there is an issue. Why are you constantly denying and bounce everything back on users? Guess what, I am not an average user, when something is wrong I can tell it's wrong.

if azrul or someone from jomsocial would like to look at it then they are free to do so.Saka wrote: it's something wrong with Joomsocial -> Joomla interaction.
there are no reports that i can recall, can you tell me who else reported it as i can find nothing like your issue. You must have had reports on the issue, I am not the only one to report it.
i work in black and white in case you hadnt noticed. if there was no user registered with that name, then there was no user. Perhaps you had registreed years ago but never logged in and the system culled you?Why are you constantly denying and bounce everything back on users?
neither am i, and with respect, if you know something is wrong that the site admin doesnt spot (or me when i am killing the spammers) , feel free to report it to the clt & wg, and jomsocial for them to repair it.Guess what, I am not an average user, when something is wrong I can tell it's wrong.
There is an average of 10 new users per day, and this is is the first case of session time out i have had reported, and yes i did go back through these topics to find it.

Re: New account created, session expired, cannot login
I can't believe this. This thread is called "session expired, cannot login" and it's not started by me. So it's in front of your nose, read the first post in the thread, that was the exact same issue I had. So there is at least one person that reported it and you still claim I'm the first one?
I did not register years ago, I registered today, the username was free. While I was filling the extended details which took a minute, the session timed out. My username was blocked, I could not register again, the username was locked out. After I reported it to you it was free again, so either you deleted it, someone else deleted it in the meantime or the system automatically deleted it because it was not confirmed. No other explanation.
What's wrong is that session is too short, you said it was "default", check what's default and increase it. It certainly isn't 15 minutes which is default for Joomla because it timed out after a minute or two.

Re: New account created, session expired, cannot login
The OP was post creation, not from what i understand yours was on initial creation.
I assume that the system deleted your username as i did not. I am an unable to access the configuration screen (and yes i have reported this bug to the people that can). I will totally agree there are bugs with pjo that need to be sorted out.
A full summary of your setup may help to see if its a chrome/ie/ff/wap issue or something more serious.

Chrome. Thanks for forwarding the report and admitting a possibility that it wasn't my fault.
