CAN'T GET PAST STEP 4 IN INSTALLATION- PLEASE HELP

PLEASE HELP!

I have tried countless times and CANNOT get past step 4 in the install process. I have uninstalled and reinstalled and deleted and started all over again, but I cannot get past step 4. I have checked, double checked and triple checked all of the information entered, and everything is correct. I get to step 4 and it does nothing. It's a white screen that has the "clocking" symbol and it just sits there. It looks like it just loads and reloads over and over again.

I have read countless posts where other users are having the same issue, but I cannot find an answer that fixes this issue.

Can someone please reply back with their feedback.

Hi mlucas

who are you hosting the site that you are trying to install Joomla onto, do you know if they support Joomla, is it linux based?

are there any error being displayed at all?

The server is windows based and I don't get any errors when installing. I checked all the settings and they seem to support Joomla. Everything seems normal until step 4, the screen displays a circle that keeps spinning as if it is loading, but nothing happens. I have tried several times and waited several hours. It seems to hang.

to make it easier for yourself (depending on your level of windows hosting and Joomla) we would recommend using Linux based hosting, as i would guess that this is the issue.

Well I have a lot of websites and I usually use wordpress, but this site I am currently working on will require a Joomla set up. I can't switch to a Linux server because all my sites are hosted with this company and I do a lot of work with them. Hands are kind of tied. I can't figure this out. I meet all the requirements and it just hangs at step 4.

I would suggest heading over to Humvee's thread http://forum.joomla.org/viewtopic.php?f=623&t=715473

It may help you, install Joomla on windows server and secondly decide whether it is worth using windows based server, never be afraid to advise clients if there hosting isnt suitable, after all your there developer, and these days hosting is very affordable.
