The most likely reason you are seeing the edit icon in the frontend is because you are logged in using your admin ID. Visiting the site, there is no icon for me. Log yourself out of your frontend and the icon should disappear.
Edit: Looking again I do see the edit icon. Suggest you take mandvilles advice.

Re: People can edit my articles while in public user mode
Start - your other topic where you complained about getting no support was posted in the j1.5 forum. so off topic.
the topic here probably had a lot of views and people either thought, no real information or lets go of and edit the site.
several hints here - if you know that something can be done to edit on your site by the public remove the link - screenshot it or whatever.
next hint - have a look in your acl permissions.
you must have done something to make it so that the public can fiddle it.
see this section http://docs.joomla.org/J2.5:Access_Cont ... t_Tutorial
check the permission in each category

also I recommend you backup your site as soon as possible, while you will not fix your permision problem, bc. some ''expert'' can play with your articles and you can lose it. When you will fix it, check all articles, if someone did not put some link there or change something.
I wrote you before, that I can not edit articles, now I checked it, really I can do it.

Re: People can edit my articles while in public user mode
i am placing a screenshot that may help you locate where to check.
the options on the right should be all not allowed, the dropdowns as inherited. i have started but made the change to allow public edits in the image shown

Re: People can edit my articles while in public user mode
very odd.
You may need to create a new category with basic public permissions, not inherited and move the articles into there.
flagging this up for the ACL forum.
