How to make URLs shorter

Hello,

I am new to Joomla and really need help with this.

Currently, the URL for the careers page on my company's website is teds.com/index.php/about-us/careers, BUT we need it to be this teds.com/careers. Does anyone have any advice on how I can go about making the URL shorter? I have been told that creating a URL redirect is probably the best and simplest option. BUT I'm faced with the confusion of how to create a page that uses the teds.com/careers URL???

i think you create different category then make /careers - on parent, also enable your SEF and Use URL rewriting then make aliases on your URL's
