Hmm, not sure why I've not been getting emails again from the forums.... only spotted this by chance.

@sgvfr - I've seen this before, but can't remember what the issue was now. Can you post / email / PM me a screenshot of your current configuration of both the Authentication and User plug-in? And also any lines in <joomla>/logs/error.php.

@heleum - Bit late but Version 2 does user provisioning.

On the topic of version 2, the RC is being unveiled tomorrow on the site with all supporting documentation. Upgrades from version 1 to 2 aren't supported, so uninstall version 1 first. Version 1 will get updates till Joomla 3.5 is released.

hi,
we managed to succesfully setup Kerberos authentication versus Active Directory, AD users are correctly authenticated and/or created into Joomla user database.
We still have problems with the SSO. Every time a user tries to connect to Joomla site a login popup appears.
We correctly setup the REMOTE_USER variable and the Username Replacement.
We search for errors on the error.php but it is empty.
Joomla is running on Apache, on UBUNTU Server 12.04 and the Active directory is a Windows 2003 server domain.
Hope you can help,
S.

Hi, I have successfully gotten LDAP and SSO working today on my Windows XAMPP server. The SSO works great for the backend site (which is all I need it for), however if SSO fails I would like the user to be presented with the standard administration login page. This way I can setup 3rd parties with admin access to our Joomla instances via local Joomla accounts instead of having to create an Active Directory account for them. Right now when SSO fails, I get a basic authentication logon prompt, and if I cancel that then I get access denied.

Is this possible? If yes, then how can it be done? Thanks!

Hi Shaun,

I just started to give this a try, but i couldn't get it work as tutorial told me to, for example;
Test/Debug and it ended up with this error message:
:: PHP LDAP Debug 2.0.0.400 Script Started ::
[991] Failed to load the PHP LDAP library.
:: PHP LDAP Debug 2.0.0.400 Script Finished ::
Then, i was trying to find the clue, which is i found this at your website, that explained i should have ldap ext. http://shmanic.com/tools/jmapmyldap/doc ... ension.htm.

however, the situation i have now is, my website was hosted somewhere that using cPanel, and doesn't have those required ext,
Is this still possible to use or else?

Please advise,

Thank you very much Shaun!

The v2 creation plug-in is included in the pkg_ldap_plugins package.

Hi!

I try to use this plugin (latest version, 2.0.400 RC1) with my joomla 2.5 and Samba4 DC. With the creation plugin i have read this:
"Method is called after the user is created in LDAP. This can be used to run external scripts (such as creating home directories) and/or adding groups to the new user."
It's with the .php for the onAfterCreation function.
My question is: How do I add my users to a group?

In advance thank you, in the idea that component opens many new doors!

Thank you for development!

Hi
We are using your plugin for our intranetsystem. After sucessfully installing your LDAP component we wanted to install SSO as well but we can't get it to work.

When opening the index.php we recive a White Screen of Death, unfortunatly. Your "Dummy" plugin works fine. Our LDAP version look exactly as the one you posted under your troubleshooting section.
We want to connect to a Active Directory, Win2k3. Our Apache runs on a OpenSUSE system. Joomlaversion 2.5 and 3.2 (we tested both).

best regards

I thought this would be native in 1.6. I'm hoping this is simple and a major oversight on my part. I can't figure out how to map the groups. I see plenty of tools for 1.5 like JauthTools but do they work in 1.6?

@ritil - LDAP group mapping is not native to Joomla and imo, shouldn't be neither as most sites do not use LDAP authentication. JAuthTools does not work in 1.6+ - Sam ported some of the JAuthTools code to 2.5 before he moved on. At some point, the JAuthTools SSO plug-ins will be ported so they work in 2.5+. Did you try JMapMyLDAP to accomplish LDAP group mapping?

If anybody from the posts above are still having problems, then send over an email. I do not get notifications from this thread.

Hi Shaun,
I'm currently using your JMapMyLDAP tool (version 2).
I spent some time to configure it and it's now working great with LDAP (Active Directory) authentication on Joomla.

I'd like to go further and be able to create AD users with Joomla form.
So I followed your instructions, but I'm stuck with this error :
An LDAP add operation failed.
This is what I found in the log ("essai" is the name I gave to the user I wanted to create) :

Can you help me with that error ?

Hi Shaun,

I tried to email you but getting a failure back: "Delivery has failed to these recipients or groups: [email protected] - The e-mail address you entered couldn't be found. Please check the recipient's e-mail address and try to resend the message. If the problem continues, please contact your helpdesk. - The following organization rejected your message: shmanic.com."

Anyway, here's my question, hope you can help:

First up, thanks for the great Joomla! LDAP extensions. I have been working through the following tutorial: http://timplummer.com.au/4-how-to-integ ... -ldap.html - and the documentation on your site, and your [youtube] video, and have managed to get it working on my Joomla! 3.2 Intranet site to the point of LDAP working with groups and we can manually login with our standard network ID’s.

I’m trying to get SSO working though, and the above guide goes through those steps but it’s not working for me. I found this page on your site: http://shmanic.com/tools/jmapmyldap/doc ... -setup.htm

It mentions that you must have either AUTH_USER or REMOTE_USER defined in PHPInfo but I do not have them in there. I’ve been searching for ways to add one of them to my Apache web server but so far no luck. Is this the missing key for SSO or am I missing something else? If so, how do you get AUTH_USER or REMOTE_USER set-up?

Here's my Joomla! System Information:

PHP Built On - Windows NT TAS-VWS-003 6.1 build 7601 (Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard Edition Service Pack 1) i586
Database Version - 5.6.16-log
PHP Version - 5.4.26
Web Server - Apache/2.4.7 (Win32) PHP/5.4.26
WebServer to PHP Interface - apache2handler
Joomla! Version - Joomla! 3.2.3 Stable [ Ember ] 6-March-2014 14:30 GMT

Many thanks, John

Shortly after my post, I found this:

http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2099 ... 5#22534595

Using the SSPI module to load AUTH_USER on Apache, it has sorted the SSO issue out.

Now works a treat!

Hi, Shaun!

First of all, thanks for great extension!

I`m using jmapmyldap2 with IIS7+AD+Windows authorisation+SSO. Works great but one trouble exists:
Network have some domains with trust relationship.
If each domain have user with equivalent names, I have this problem:
DOMAIN_1\JohnD
DOMAIN_2\JohnD
SSO plugin cut domain name (that is nessesary).
DOMAIN_1\JohnD succesfully logged in and commited changes and group mapping. Than if DOMAIN_2\JohnD try to log in, LDAP plugin succesfully log in to Joomla! account DOMAIN_1\JohnD (and in ldap.debug.log I see dn for DOMAIN_1\JohnD, because domains have trust). I understand that users must have uniq names, but this situation can be use for abuse act (especially if some one of this users have escalated permissions in J!) for domain admins.
Is there possible to check used domain by already commited in profile params and log in only if domain is correct? Thanks!

With this you can not only easily find the right integration to your directory, but also give users characeristics with joomla groupmemberships by using the LDAP membership. When you administrate users through the LDAP, you can control their access in Joomla this way! Excellent.

If i try to login from another pc of domaina, Internet Explorer ask me the DOMIN credential...

How to bypass this?

Now for each login the time is very long and the problem is this:

Hello-

My Joomla install is giving me the following error:

Error
SSO: Failed to authenticate user 'xxxxxxx'.

FYI, xxxxxxx is not the username. I didn't want to post it in this forum.

Anyway, I have all of the JMapMyLDAP plugins installed and I installed mod_auth_sspi in Apache.

Here's my setup info:

Joomla 3.3.0
Apache 2.2.25
PHP 5.3.28
MySQL 5.6.18

Here's the debug errors:

DN groups: cn=group1,ou=groups,dc=mysite,dc=com
DN users: cn=user1,ou=people,dc=mysite,dc=com

Joomla 2.5 using latest Schmanic add ons
Shaun, I have everything configured LDAP talking groupmapping setup, and manual login working, I am trying to get the SSO setup. I have found and done some of the HTTPD changes and it does it randomly but doesnt do the group mapping. So so it isnt picking up the Remote_User variable, but not sure where to implore that.
I am using WAMP and it does not return REMOTE_USER
when doing the SSO_Dummy plugin it logins and maps the groups not sure what is going on. Let me know what I need to post to help with debugging.

Hello,

I follow the guide and try to set up JMapMyLdap. In setting LDAP, I fill in all the field but can't save. It shows:
Warning
Invalid field: Name

My joomla version is 3.3.0. Any idea? Thank you very much

I am looking for a solution for this as well. With the LDAP plugin I can authenticate users against a domino server (no kidding) w/o a problem and the users are created in Joomla as simple registered users. Thing is, I'd like to use tie domino groups to joomla user groups so I can control content.

Hello,
First, i want to say, great plugins, thank you so much.

I have everything working perfectly. Ldap and SSO working on an Windows/AD/IIS7 environment.
Mapping is working and it creates new users when they do not already exist.
Only 2 things would make this perfect.
1: when new users are created, the First Name and Surname fields are blank in their Community Builder profile. Can we pass through this info from AD when the Joomla/CB account is created? Also to be able to populate Site (from the ou they are in or a group) and phone fields would be spectacular.
2: As we currently use a mixed notes/exchange mail system, not all email addresses are in AD. i currently have the mail attribute set to [username]@domain.com.au, but all new users would have the incorrect email address in the system, is it possible to change it so that it sends it as "[email protected]"

Thanks again

Re: JMapMyLDAP - LDAP Group Mapping for 1.6 / 1.7

<insert time of day> :)

i ran into some strange problem...

i run a site using Joomla 3.3 and the most recent shmanic ldap plugin. everything works fine - thanks for the work shaun.

now, we use

Code: Select all

require_once JPATH_ROOT.DS.'components'.DS.'com_users'.DS.'models'.DS.'registration.php';
$userData = array( 'username' => $username,
						'name' => $name,
						'email1' => $email,
						'email2' => $email,
						'password1' => $password, // First password field
						'password2' => $password, // Confirm password field
						'block' => 0 );
$model = new UsersModelRegistration();
$return = $model->register($userData);
to allow certain admin-users to add users from the front end (thus not needing to give them access to the holy backend ^^)

this said here is my problem:
when i log in with a local joo
problem is now, that within the joomla-library (public function register($temp), starting at line 340) the script exits as soon at it tries to store the data ( if (!$user->save()) ) with the exception "Failed to find any of the distinguished name(s) in the Ldap directory for 'test11'" (test11 is the username i used this time)

this only happens if the logged in user which tries to add a new user is a user authenticated against the ldap. if i use a local joomla account, everything works as expected (and as it did the last year)

so how can i keep the ldap plugin from interfering at his point? anybody got an idea?

need more input? let me know please.

ingo

Hi Shaun,

I've got a weird issue that I can't nail down.

Everything appears to be working Ok, we've got a bind, the debug screen has no errors and we've got working group mappings, but it takes two goes to get in!

Let me explain:

We have a login form on our home page which asks for username and password, you enter username and password and then it, without fail, tells you in the centre of the screen that your username or password is wrong or you don't have a registered account and displays a username and password form populated with the credentials you entered. If you immediately hit enter, it logs you in with no issue, creates your joomla user and does the relevant group mappings!

Obviously something is wrong here, but I can't work out what!

we are using Joomla 3.3.1 on IIS7.5 with PHP5.4.5

Hope you can help.

Solution will be to handle the LDAP connection in the plugin. Which I've been lazy about doing. But this part is straight out of the tutorial. I'd prefer something in joomla.client.ldap, it would be cleaner and I could reuse the connection from when I verified the user. I do not want to change anything in the joomla package, if it can be avoided.

Hi I've been using JMapMyLDAP for a little while and really think it's great!

I was wondering 2 things:

1. this is more of a development / enhancement request - it would be great if you could specify default ACL groups by connection / base DN ..

for me in our AD there separate OU's for departments and locations i.e ou=ADusers which is then split to ou=DPET1, Ou=ADUSERS and ou=DPET2, Ou=ADUSERS.

I want to be able to set groups by connection so if Dept1 user connects they are added to registered and dept1 groups and if dpt2 user connects ... you get the idea.

at the moment I have to add all the users to a security group and then use the security group to map in the plugin, which also means remembering to add new users to the security groups each time!.

2. is there / are there any plans for a SYNC LDAP feilds to Community builder plugin? if no then which plugin would be a good one to start with? I am happy to have a go at building one if someone can point me in the right direction to start from!.

cheers all

Kiran
