Multilanguage infinite redirect loop error.

I am not sure I am supposed to post the description again since it's already in the FPA generated post, sorry if I doubled it:

I have an error with Firefox "The page isn't redirecting properly Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete." but also with other browsers such as Chromium, Chrome, IE and more. It goes away if I turn off language filter plug in which I need to make my multilanguage site. Error started after I duplicated the menus for the 3 languages (English, Thai and Italian). I then erased the languages and menus but it did not resume working correctly (unless I disable the language filter plug in). Right now there are no other languages menus or modules but I need to use them.

PS I forgot to tell that when I try entering the site the URL looks like this:

You are using a lot of 3pd extensions. Any of them could be the reason why you get the loop.

Hi there, this is the first time I m posting on this forum community

I wanted to reply to this post because I got a similar error.

My site is multilanguage and my problem comes when I m on an english page, for instance
http://www.hotelcroixbaragnon.com/en/services-en and then I click on the "fr" flag. Here we go we've got the same redirection loop with gives "The page isn't redirecting properly".

When clicking on the fr flag it should go from "http://www.hotelcroixbaragnon.com/en/services-en" -- to --> http://www.hotelcroixbaragnon.com/services.

In my htacces I wrote this Redirect 301 /fr/services http://www.hotelcroixbaragnon.com/services.

You can also have look to this screenshot where we see clearly the infinite loop.

My question is why Joomla tries to redirect 303 to the /fr folder.

The error happens when you use batch"duplicate" function on the HOME menu item. Create a new one instead. Unfortunately, once you used the batch duplicate function, sometime the infinite loop error will stay even if you delete and recreate anew. I had to recreate the site all over but I have never got that error again by not using batch functions to copy HOME menu.

Well I might have used the batch functions at one point at the very beginning creation process but now I don't think its a good think to recreate all menu items.. It might crash or bug at one point. So the problem would be the Joomla core system ? Is there a way to fix it differently ?

So I was thinking it might comes from the redirect component or the multi language filter module.

Hard for me to understand clearly where comes from the problem.

Which version of Joomla! are you using? This forum is for the 2.5 obsolete version.

I suggest to update to the last stable version 3.4.4.
Then please create a new topic in the 3x forum http://forum.joomla.org/viewforum.php?f=711 if you still have the issue.
Do NOT change the default .htaccess
