Re: Discuss Joomla! 3.6 Beta 1
In the official announcement, the section "What's new in Joomla 3.6" is empty (well, it has one line, "the big question is..."). Is there a place where we can see what's really new in Joomla 3.6?

The "what's new" is the two sections underneath that heading. They should've used h3's instead of h2's to indicate that the new features are sub-sections of the "what's new" heading, but what's there is what they've decided to go with for marketing purposes. There's also the link in the announcement to the GitHub list of all closed items for the release.

Re: Discuss Joomla! 3.6 Beta 1
The line "The big question is, what is new in Joomla 3.6?" does look really odd!
Nonetheless, this shouldn't detract once again from the staggering amount of effort that's done into this release.

Thank Michael! I like the Joomla Update improvement - especially the fact that you can re-install Joomla as if you are installing an extension (if I got this right). Does anyone know if that re-install/install affects the database? Or if it just a filesystem re-install?

Joomla 3.6 component (com_redirect, com_message..) removal?
Hello,
in Joomla 3.5 (original release date: March 2014 ) should be removed the following components: com_newsfeed, com_banners, com_contacts, com_search, com_finder, com_redirect, com_message.
I use Joomla version 3.5.1 and these components are still there. I read a few months ago that it should be deleted in the version of Joomla 3.6.
It is so? Or is it again just a joke?

Suggest to check the release announcements for changed functionality. It appears to be too difficult to properly maintain the information in the roadmap!
To answer your question: again just a joke!

Re: Joomla 3.6 component (com_redirect, com_message..) removal?
They won't remove them because the current team feels it is too difficult to maintain and schedule releases for standalone extensions in addition to the current policies regarding how languages are managed.

Thank you for your answers.
Hmm, this is one of the reasons why users of Joomla is less and less. We wanted lighter code and faster pages. But Joomla 3.5 is the slowest (PHP 7). Slower than Joomla 1.5 and Joomla 2.5. I did a comparison.
I think of the trio Drupal, Wordpress and Joomla is our Joomla slowest.
I know that all the work is volunteers. I once wrote here, work and time volunteers I greatly appreciate. But something is wrong. Websites in Joomla almost nobody wants. Previously, there was no problem.
Now I read two topics: Joomla's Future (marketing related) and Joomla! Is Dying!. In Joomla I have all our projects, but I'm not sure how to continue with Joomla. For info, in Joomla I work many, many years.
Is not there someone who works in Drupal?
If possible (and it will make sense), I will contribute financially to the development Joomla.

What makes you think they have been moved? They are still in the same topic, as far as I can see nothing was moved!

@sovainfo The separate topic was merged here into the 3.6 Beta discussion thread. Posts are still here, just in a different thread now (look at the subjects).

ACL for on-the-fly categories
How is that controlled? Can any author just type in any category they want? I'm looking through the com_categories config and create article menu item configs, but I don't see any way to shut that feature off other than to limit to a single category in the menu item.
Is there more info in the PR on github? What is that PR number?
