"Edit Post" duration time too short

Post by leolam » Tue Sep 06, 2016 5:59 am

See http://forum.joomla.org/viewtopic.php?f ... 7#p3427067

I completely agree. You cannot even ask a person to mark the post since it already locked from editing within a very short amount of time. This is not that convenient since sometimes one realizes that something was wrong or you want to add something after a few hours and it is simply not possible to correct errors, sharp words meant to be different or clarify what is actually meant. Especially in an English forum where many people are not native corrections are often needed and is not that pretty that the time to edit is set so short. I do not see how this helps for spam protection/flooding but I can see the reason for limiting the time (clarity and not mixing up posts) but please increase the edit time since again I am wasting a ton of time reading stuff and asking people to mark the Original first post as resolved where they have no option to do so any longer?

Thanks and have a look into this please?

I support this idea. I understand that there are arguments on both sites regarding "late editing" of forum posts but, in the interests of allowing someone to change the topic icon—particularly to change it to the "solved" icon—this would be a change for the better, in my opinion, also.

On Joomla forum we have set a "Limit editing time" because in the past we've had a lot of spammers who first posted some"normal" Joomla related messages and came back later to edit them to add their spam links.

The current limit (2 hours) should be enough to edit small errors in a post after submitting it.

I agree that adding [solved] or the green check mark to solved topics would be useful for people who use search.
However in the past most topic starters did not mark their topic solved, even after asking them to do so.
I stopped asking people to do so.

My previous post I checked was locked from editing after 30 minutes(!) and not 2 hours. This should be re-considered for changes and we have enough contributors who monitor such events I think where we report them immediately
