Re: Irish language translation?
Hey guys, i am somewhat new here, but i just wanted to say i think it's a great thing to see people interested in the Irish translation project
I'm from Dublin myself, and don't speak as much Irish as i'd like to be able to, but it's great to see our beautiful language being catered for
Keep up the good work

Re: Irish language translation?
SO, this is a sample from a page i'm testing...
it works for Irish(to English), and i suppose other Latin-based languages too, but when it comes to Arabic, the google translator page is just displaying "????? ?? ??" etc
didn't create the desired effect either
the text to be translated is user-generated
the HTML is output from a text file(for now) from PHP
I at least understand this has something to do with unicode/8bit strings etc
Many Thanks.
UPDATE##### So far i've got the desired effect, code edited above with this line added... translate=encodeURIComponent(translate);
Not sure if this will work for other languages or even if this is the right approach, but posting here for others. (:
Code: Select all
i=1;
translate=document.getElementById('i'+i).innerHTML;
translate=encodeURIComponent(translate);
window.open('http://www.google.com/translate_t?langpair=auto|auto&text='+translate);
Code: Select all
translate=unescape(encodeURIComponent( translate ) );

Thank you for cheering up! We actually need some help to progress with the translation. We are looking for contributors, like native speakers! The maximum requirement is to be able to use OpenOffice / MS Office 8-) The team will take care of any technical aspect of managing the translation for the project.
Please stay in touch!

Your site is looking good. Just wondering how Google translates the site content. Do you get found for the English and Irish versions of the words.breandanose wrote:Hi Hervé,

Herve,
I was wondering if you would still have a copy of the Irish translation files. I have people working with me that are native Irish speakers and would be glad to assist in the further development of Irish translation if you need it.
I am trying to translate my new site into Irish and I would find the files really useful. Will be glad to volunteer my contribution to you

Oh, don't worry, I see plenty of problems too but it has been translated into many languages already so there are ways to do it correctly. The system supports language packs which is what I'm hoping to create with the help of this community.

Many thanks to Kevin for his continued work on different Irish language projects in general, and in particular for making this translation possible for Joomla 3. I remember his help way back to get some strings translated on Joomla! 1.0.
I look forward to using this translation for an updated website I'm working on at the moment.

Re: Irish language translation?
Hello,
The small (and recently augmented) Irish translation team is waiting approval of the Joomla! Irish language pack.And there is still some work to do!
In the meantime, we would like to prepare to attract some attention from the National (Ireland) and European media, outside the usual and supportive Joomla and FOSS communities. Then, as my PR skills are poor, and I'm not a native English speaker, we are looking for help and inspiration on this.
Do you know anyone that you can point us to?
Are you aware of other translation team having done some work and buzz before, so we can get some ideas from it?
Apart from the "about Joomla!" page, what information should we give to journalists?
https://www.joomla.org/about-joomla.html
You can use some documents on GitHub
https://github.com/joomla-irish/languag ... n_Irish.md
Looking forward to reading some advices!

Re: Irish language translation?
Hello!
The Irish language pack for Joomla is keeping up-to-date since Kevin joined us about two years ago (already...).
The last update for Joomla 3.8.0 is available from the Administrator backend, on installation of a new Joomla instance, and also published here:
http://joomlacode.org/gf/project/jtrans ... ge_id=7002
Now, thanks to Kevin ongoing support with translation and build scripts, and Thomas who manages the language files on Crowdin, we will have, in a few days, the files and Translation Memory available for everyone to contribute!!
So hopefully, we will reach a full translated pack (admin is not completely done) very soon!
More to follow.
Slán go fóilleach!

Re: Irish language translation?
Hello!,
Just in case someone find this post, that looks old, the Irish language pack is still well maintained and improved, now for Joomla 3.8.12.
It can be simply installed like any other official pack from the Joomla Administrator.
Or manually downloaded at
https://community.joomla.org/translatio ... html#ga-ie
Irish translators and speakers, we need you! Please help localise Joomla 3.9 CMS as Gaeilge https://crowdin.com/project/joomla-cms/ga-IE#/staging
The Frontend is done since Dec 2015, and for people using Joomla daily in the Gaeltacht, a full Backend as #Gaeilge2018 would be great
A #aistritheoirí, tá cúnamh uainn! Cabhraigh linn #Gaeilge a chur ar chóras Joomla! 3.9
https://crowdin.com/project/joomla-cms/ga-IE#/staging
Go raibh maith agaibh!

A quick word to say that it's been months since the VirtueMart translation in Irish, has been added in Transifex. Please Feel free to contribute!
