Error You have tried to upload file(s) that are not safe.
Hi all
I cannot upload images larger than around 40kb to Joomla Media Manager directly and/or within an article. I'm using my laptop connected to Virgin High Speed Broadband. Images smaller than around 40kb will upload but larger will not.
When trying to upload an image greater than 40kb, after a few minutes of hanging I get a blank page as follows...
"This site can’t be reached
blahblah.co.uk unexpectedly closed the connection.
Try:
Checking the connection
Checking the proxy and the firewall
Running Windows Network Diagnostics
ERR_CONNECTION_CLOSED"
...then upon page refresh I see the error below
"Error
You have tried to upload file(s) that are not safe."
Ive searched every post I can find related to this and no answers seems to be out there. Ive contacted my hosting company Siteground who cannot replicate the problem their end as it works fine for them so they cannot find a solution.
I have also tried uploading using 2 different internet providers (BT Broadband and Virgin High speed Fibre) but neither work.
However, if I use my mobile phone (Galaxy S8) to upload using Wifi or 4G it uploads no problem!
It seems therefore to be be a specific problem with my Laptop/Configuration or its interaction with Joomla?
Just a note that the larger file will upload in WordPress so it is Joomla specific.
This only seems to have happened after I updated from 3.8.6 to 3.8.7
Ive recorded a video below of the debug results whilst trying to upload, if anyone can see anything obvious?
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1uNZ3yh ... sp=sharing
Cheers
- Chrome 66.0.3359.139
- Joomla 3.8.7
- JCE Full
- No restrictions on server upload size
- Media manager upload max set to 10mb

Here's a video of the small image loading but the large not

Here's a video of the error message
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1h39zXd ... sp=sharing
I notice this
https://issues.joomla.org/tracker/joomla-cms/15466
I'm not a developer but is there a temp fix I can use?
I'm getting desperate, I have many Joomla websites and none of them are uploading large files.
WordPress uploads them without issue so I know it is Joomla specific

Re: Can't save files, update Joomla, upload files, etc.
Hi all
I am seriously struggling with this issue too. I cannot upload to JCE, TinyMCE, Media Manager, Article images or Droppics. It is in effect making Joomla unusable.
I have raised a support post below but no-one from Joomla has yet replied.
viewtopic.php?f=706&t=961701
- It fails in both FF and Chrome (so its not Browser related)
- It fails if I use a 4G hotspot from my phone or WiFi (so its not network type related)
- It fails on 2 different laptops (so its not device related)
- It fails on 2 different ISPs(BT & Virgin) (so its not ISP related)
- Siteground say its all fine their end after testing (so its not server related? or is it?)
However, WordPress will upload no problem in any case above so this is specifically a Joomla related issue.
Can someone from Joomla please take a look at this before I lose whats left of my hair
Cheers

Do you have any third party plugin that conflict the upload function?

Ive tried disabling them all one by one without any luck.
This seems to have happened since I upgraded from 3.8.6 to 3.8.7

Did you try by using tinymce and also did you try to clear browser cache?

Re: Error You have tried to upload file(s) that are not safe(SOLVED).
************************** SOLVED ******************************
This was due to Kaspersky Anti-Virus. As well as preventing uploads it stops Themler Template Builder from saving and updating images as well as preventing Themler from updating.
To solve the issue you need to add the website to the Kaspersky trusted URL list, clear the browser cache, shutdown(Exit) Kaspersky then restart Kaspersky

- Kaspersky/Settings/Protection/Web Anti-Virus/Advanced Settings/Configure Trusted URLS/Click ‘Add’
Type in the full URL eg https://yourdomainname.com
Clear the Browser Cache whether Chrome (Settings/Advanced/Clear Browsing Data/Tick Browsing History, Download History and Cache images and files/Press the ‘CLEAR DATA’ button) or
Firefox(Options/Privacy & Security/Clear your recent history/Tick Browsing, Form & Cache/Press ‘Clear Now’)
Exit Kaspersky
Test while Kaspersky is not running
Restart Kaspersky
Test again once Kaspersky is running again
