3.8.8 update issues with random image module

On two sites running Joomla 3.8.7 that we've upgraded to 3.8.8 we've had to unpublish any random image modules.
We get the following error:

Fatal error: Using $this when not in object context in /home/xxxxxx/public_html/modules/mod_random_image/tmpl/default.php on line 16

Both sites use Gantry 5 templates from Rockettheme

It seems that you must contact with the creator of this module to update it.

By the way, the author of the Random Image module is listed as the Joomla! Project. I have version 3.0.0 installed and it is dated July 2006.

In Files changed you copy the green line 16 and you paste into line 16 of the file

How did you get to that code from the link Michael Babker provided?
I see that this is "merged", does that mean that it is now included in the update package, so I can update my other sites?

when you on " Files changed" tab you can press View button on top right corner to view complete file.

you can update other sites after new version will be released.
now it just night-build version mostly for testers. so if it critical you can just replace concrete file for now or wait for next release.
