Joomla 2.5. Erase index.php from the URLs

Post by agilalberdi » Fri Sep 28, 2018 1:53 pm

Hi,

Thanks for the help, I am recently managing a web site hosted in Joomla 2.5.

For more than 10 years it has beeen managed without the WMT.Past July when I started i realised that and placed the codes. What I started to get is a lot of URLs like this... that were allready indexed in Google.

http://www.eexcellence.es/index.php?opt ... &Itemid=74

I was able to adapt the actual URL and now on is

http://www.eexcellence.es/index.php/ent ... o-de-dorna

Can I dosomething with the old URLs?, or just start one by one with canonical.. how can I erased the index.php. I have tried many thing starting with Friendly URLs and renamed htaccess and does not work. Makes the URLs of my homepage not to work. I alsohave tried a special program that I get from another forum but does not let my 301 works.

Thanks for any help

Try this: Download older version od Akeeba admin tools which support Joomla 2.x series and generate htaccess file with its tool. Under htaccess configuration in Akeeba admin tools make sure you check redirect index.php to site root.

Here is the link: https://www.akeebabackup.com/download/admintools.html
You need version 3.4.6 to 4.7.7 depending on php version you use.

It might solve your issue.
