When will 4 be released?

Guys, when is V4 due to be released? You've taken so long WordPress is crushing Joomla. Most theme developers have stopped creating templates due to V4 coming out and this has allowed WordPress (which I hate) to dominate the market!

Everyone has their own opinion about when J! 4 will be released (either in beta form or in a stable condition). Rather than offer you my opinion (which, I'm sure, will be totally trashed or disputed by everyone else), when do you think that J! 4 will be released (in any useful form)? At the very least, I might be able to say whether I think you're in the right ballpark but, I suspect, any estimates of a possible release date for J! 4 would be, shall we say, optimistic ones at this time.

I don't know if it's a fact that "most" template developers have halted developments until the release of J! 4 but if you have information or evidence I should be interested to see it.

The Joomla Road map suggests a stable at end of 2019, but that's a guesstimate at best

The schedule for 4.0 says a beta test version to be released in October 2019, and indeed, in Nightly Builds there is a beta release: https://developer.joomla.org/nightly-builds.html

The next hurdle though, is the "in-between" transition version 3.10
