Email no longer sending in 1.7

I have a (very) old joomla 1.7 website hosted on godaddy. Email was sending fine as of 2/10/2020. All of a sudden on 2/10 joomla stopped sending mail. It was sending through smtp in the global config section of joomla. I didn't change my gmail email password.

Any ideas?

Topic moved, this has nothing to do with Joomla 3.x, which would have been relatively simple to test and log the detailed mail connection attempts into a file.

Were you using 2-step verification and Application Specific Password (ASP) with Gmail?

Check also with the host.

Surprised that even Godaddy allows something that old to run on their systems.
