Can't reset password using Phpmyadmin
Hello I am using Joomla 3.x and I have a big problem.
Back in time with 2.5 I could reset admin password using phpmyadmin users table prefix...
With 3.x it does not work! I tried everything! Can't login to admin panel.
Gives error: Warning
Username and password do not match or you do not have an account yet.
Please help its urgent!!!

Re: Can't reset password using Phpmyadmin
It's the same process in Joomla 3.x as it was for 2.5 (nothing's changed in that respect) - in fact the link given by @sozzled indicates the process is for J! 2.5, 3.x and 4.x

Ok guys I fixed the problem... Just realized I was editing the wrong _users table...sozzled wrote: ↑Thu May 28, 2020 7:56 pmSee again (and read carefully) the instructions here: https://docs.joomla.org/How_do_you_reco ... e_Database
There was a second page in the tables list and the other _users table did the trick...
Unbelievable :S

Their are no 2 user tables "_users" in the database. You must have leftovers from your Joomla 2.5 migration.
Remove the incorrect table(s) from your database but make a backup first

I think I confused myself and you may have been right. There have been a couple of topics on this subject this week and the other topic referred to K2 (in the context of J! 1.5). Pardon my intrusion.

Re: Can't reset password using Phpmyadmin
However ...
A lot of people don't know how to keep their websites separate. People create two, three ... fifty (or more) websites on their servers and all of these websites use the same database. Sure, separate table prefixes, but everything is plonked into the one place. This may explain why there are "two _user tables".
So, if someone deleted "the other one", they may be crippling "the other one's" website. I'd be careful.
One of these days I'll write an article called something like "How to create a website and keep it at arm's length from all your other websites". I just haven't had the enthusiasm to spend time 'blogging.
