J4 Beta 2 Upload Extensions
I have:
1. a local copy of my live site (J3.9.19)
2. copy of live site upgraded to (J3.10-dev, latest overnight build)
3. J4 Beta 2 (latest overnight build, clean install on a blank database)
The are all in exactly the same environment (MAMP Pro running PHP 7.4.2). Superficially all working as they should so far as I can tell, certainly the copy of my live site is. Update to J3.10-dev went perfectly, installation of J4 likewise.
However, I'm having issues installing extensions with J4 Beta but not with the 3.9.19 and 3.10-dev sites. I can, for example, install AdminTools Core and this goes well, but other extensions do not even those flagged as being for J4 Alpha. The site fails with a couple of errors. Is it just me?

Re: J4 Beta 2 Upload Extensions
This is what happens:
1. Drag the package into the extension installer. All appears to go well and says installed, but:
2. Clicking on "Return to dashboard" gives this:
At this point I can't do anything. The side menu expands but links don't work and I can't even logout.
The frontend shows this:
Is this just me or should I report it? J4 issue or extension package issue?

Re: J4 Beta 2 Upload Extensions
These extensions are using a method not present in J4.

Re: J4 Beta 2 Upload Extensions
Hence I can install AdminTools but not some others? That’s helpful - many thanks

Re: J4 Beta 2 Upload Extensions
Hi, Thanks for your testing of these early versions.
Please, note that there is no Joomla 4 Beta 2 yet. At this time, Joomla 4 Beta 1 has been released a few days ago, and you are testing on a Nightly Build of Joomla 4. I think you downloaded it from here: https://developer.joomla.org/nightly-builds.html
Remember that Nightly Builds are built automatically every night, so higher instabilities are expected.
If you find extensions that announce the "Compatibility with J4 Alpha" and don't work on Joomla 4 Beta 1, please, report the issue back to the author to help the development of the extensions for Joomla 4.
In the following days, we are updating the JED to introduce the label "Compatibility with J4 Beta 1". Of course, all of these labels will be gone when Joomla 4 stable is finally released.
Best Regards

Re: J4 Beta 2 Upload Extensions
Thanks for letting me/us know and "will do" regarding letting extension developers know.
Just one small point if I may?:
If I've made a mistake then others will do so too for sure

This is a screen grab from the downloads page. The package is labelled "Beta 2", hence my referring to it as suchanibal_sanchez wrote: ↑Fri Jun 05, 2020 8:07 amPlease, note that there is no Joomla 4 Beta 2 yet. Re: J4 Beta 2 Upload Extensions
Yes, it is confusing. The builder is already naming the file as the next upcoming version.

It is confusing, especially when it installs as such tooanibal_sanchez wrote: ↑Fri Jun 05, 2020 10:29 amYes, it is confusing. The builder is already naming the file as the next upcoming version.
I'll try to remember, and thank you for posting back - very much appreciated
Perhaps a Mod could change the title of this thread, please? It needs to refer to "Beta 1" rather than "Beta 2".

Confusing isn't it! The nightly builds are for Beta-2-Dev. Beta-1 is here:

Re: J4 Beta 2 Upload Extensions
It is confusing and I have requested it be made clearer. To the development world apparently it is obvious that beta2-dev is a developer release before beta2.

Re: J4 Beta 2 Upload Extensions
Thanks Brian, I understand that now and can see why it is how it is.brian wrote: ↑Fri Jun 05, 2020 8:38 pmIt is confusing and I have requested it be made clearer. To the development world apparently it is obvious that beta2-dev is a developer release before beta2.

BTW, J4 Beta 1 is looking good. Thanks to all involved.
