Live site doesn't work with php 8.0 but cloned site on staging subdomain does Topic is solved

I took over a Joomla site earlier this year and am trying to get the live site to php 8.0. I have cloned the live site on a staging subdomain. I have been able to get php 8.0 working on the cloned site by disabling several plugins that needed updating and were causing issues. However, disabling these same plugins has not allowed php 8.0 to work on the live site. I have been working with Joomla since 2010 (but clearly not an expert). Though I can't seem to wrap my head around the fact that the staging site is working but the live site continues to have issues with php 8.0 even though they are technically the same/with same things disabled. I feel like I'm missing something obvious but I don't know what. I appreciate any gudance you can give!!!

The main errors I receive are: 0

Are you sure you're using the live site is on PHP 8.0.x (the FPA disagrees...showing PHP 7.4.30)?

Does your hosting allow custom selection of PHP versions - by sub-domain? (or per application)? Perhaps you haven't selected the PHP 8.0.x version you intended?

A few issues needing fixing: LiveSite: Is Not Empty (make this field "null" (i.e. no value in it).

Which is your current front-end template:

• Helix Ultimate
• T3_blank
• Purity_III
• T3_bs3_blank

Suggest removing any template not being used.

T3_blank v 2.2.3 - their website (or Github) indicates v 3.1.0. That could be the cause and the change log indicates a few bug fixes and such for Joomla 4 so make sure T3 (framework and template) are fully current (if that's your front-end template). There could also be conflicts between T3 Framework and Helix Framework (and templates). See the changlog for T3: (posted for reference:

Can you provide the live site URL, with display_errors/error_reporting/debug turned on which may point to whatever is causing the issues - but check to ensure you're running PHP 8.0.x then turn on the debug and error reporting.

Jumi is not listed in the Joomla Extensions Directory (JED). Searches reveal that Jumi is not maintained and therefore it is unlikely to be compatible with PHP 8. Jumi 3.0.5 is also vulnerable to SQL injections and this website has an older version.

If the website requires functions implemented with embedded PHP code, it is time to consider migrating the PHP code to a supported extension like Sourcerer.

If one of the few uses of the live site variable is to set the relative path then the OP's use of that variable for his staging site in a sub domain may well be valid, depending on what is entered. So mysite.com in the variable would be wrong and test.mysite.com would be valid in this case.

I did see that Jumi was out and had it disabled a few weeks ago, but will delete it as the client has no idea what it was used for. They also have fabrik, which was also removed from the JED, and I'm trying to figure out a good alternative (but that's for another post, lol).

Are you sure you're using the live site is on PHP 8.0.x (the FPA disagrees...showing PHP 7.4.30)?

Does your hosting allow custom selection of PHP versions - by sub-domain? (or per application)? Perhaps you haven't selected the PHP 8.0.x version you intended?

A few issues needing fixing: LiveSite: Is Not Empty (make this field "null" (i.e. no value in it).

Which is your current front-end template:

• Helix Ultimate
• T3_blank
• Purity_III
• T3_bs3_blank

Suggest removing any template not being used.

T3_blank v 2.2.3 - their website (or Github) indicates v 3.1.0. That could be the cause and the change log indicates a few bug fixes and such for Joomla 4 so make sure T3 (framework and template) are fully current (if that's your front-end template). There could also be conflicts between T3 Framework and Helix Framework (and templates). See the changlog for T3: (posted for reference:

Can you provide the live site URL, with display_errors/error_reporting/debug turned on which may point to whatever is causing the issues - but check to ensure you're running PHP 8.0.x then turn on the debug and error reporting.

I will try again to use the fpa on the live site with 8.0 selected. I couldn't seem to get past the white screen. For the php levels, I can definitely set by subdomain, maybe by application - I will look into that.

I will have to wait until this weekend to retest the live site but will reply again with results.

You should start by updating sh404sef since that's what's causing fatal error on every page.

If one of the few uses of the live site variable is to set the relative path then the OP's use of that variable for his staging site in a sub domain may well be valid, depending on what is entered. So mysite.com in the variable would be wrong and test.mysite.com would be valid in this case.

No need to do that for a Joomla in a sub folder. If mysite.com works without that variable defined then so would test.mysite.com. A Joomla in test.mysite.com (when reached at that url) will have that as the base url without the livesite var defined.

If mysite.com works without that variable defined then defining it will cause problems for mysite.com and test.mysite.com

I was able to find an update for Fabrik on github (thank goodness because their registration and support is not working) and updated sh404 as well. I think there was another post that referenced folder permissions getting changed when updating the php, and lo and behold, this happened to the main folder. As soon as I fixed the permissions, I was able to see the front end and get the rest of the issues sorted.
