Module articles-categories: category-links displayed side by side? descending sort of entries?

Hello,

I'm using Joomla v5.1.0 with Helix Ultimate v2.1.1 as site template for my private website.

I've created two articles-categories-modules to display the years of my mushroom findings and my excursions as category-links in the right module position. But all years take up their own line, which unnecessarily inflates the height of the module:

1.) How could the years be displayed space-saving side by side?

2.) Is it possible to show the years sorted descending so that the newest year is shown at first and the oldest year is shown at last?

Why don't you use the Article Archive Feature?

What's the difference/benefit between archived and published articles?

It seems I have to check a few [youtube] clips to check out this feature.

Set up categories order in admin panel.
