"Max Post Size" has to be larger or equal to "Max Upload Size". The values seem a bit excessive too.

Max. Upload Size: 1G | Max. POST Size: 256M

Set both to something more reasonable such as 64M each. The above is likely at least one reason for the problem. You might also need to review the Media Manager file upload limit. This is changed separately to the PHP settings, but has to be equal or below the "max upload size" setting for PHP. Depending on your article editor, it may have its own set of restrictions for file uploads which have to be in line with the PHP setting.

Another weird setting:

Memory Limit: 3072M

That's 3.072 GB - quite excessive. The normal setting would be something like 128M, 256M or 512M (this is just an unusual setting, not saying it's contributing to the problem).

**If, after changing the max post size and max upload size values, the error continues, suggest posting the fault on Github (issues.joomla.org), noting that you're using Joomla 5.1.1 RC1 not the stable version 5.1.0. (refer viewtopic.php?f=8&t=1009309)

interesing - similar error but the post linked above the OP was having the trouble with J4.4.4 not 5.1.1RC1.

Please tell us why you cannot add images. Where does the process stop? Do you see any error messages? Have you opened your browser Developer Tools to see if any errors are reported there?

if you are getting an internal server error (Error 500), then turn on debug, and Error Reporting to"Maximum" and report back to the forum all errors you're seeing.

The FPA shows these currently:

Change these through the configuration.php file, or in the Joomla Adminstrator system (or server) settings, or if need be, through your web host account (such as cPanel or whatever you use for the hosting administration).

This topic presented me with the solution. Turning off mod_security at my ISP made it work again. Thank you for all your answers.
