What about Sambo ?
Sambo is a kind of SELFDEFENCE system (very aggresive and brutal - but very, very effective).
Sambo is very usefull in case of WAR (the main selfdefence system using by russian warriors).

Sambo is simillar to Mambo, but is quite different ...

Sambo ?

Ok, here we go  :)

I am a professional copywriter for an international ad agency for more than 15 years now, so I think I know what it takes for a name *grin*

I suggest something that is pretty close to Mambo and could have a nice logo:

MANGO

And here's the slogan for the shirts: "We go Mango!"

Hope this is of some use for the team.

Regards,
Bernhard (BBDO)

Magic, well, Sambo used to be a bit racist in the UK..  I guess it might still be.  Of course these more enlightened days this may not be so relevant now.

I think Sambo is good for the reasons you give.  sambo.org seems to be available..

I quite like Mamba.

Still I think we are on the right track with some reminicent links with Mambo in the name..

re·sil·ient    ( P )  Pronunciation Key  (r-zlynt)
adj.
Marked by the ability to recover readily, as from misfortune.
Capable of returning to an original shape or position, as after having been compressed. See Synonyms at flexible.

My proposal for name of Sambo was a kind of joke from my side ...
This brutal and aggresive selfdefence system name seems very attractive and actual (taking on account revolution we are participating in)...

My vote is for Salsa!

I think the new name must have it's own style so ...mbo and the other dance variations tango, samba etc. isnt a good choice.

I'm still talking about Wave CMS maybe it can be the NeWaveCMS huh :)

It's a pity the community can't keep hold of the name Mambo. The devs and 3PDs, etc have made this into the best CMS around only to have it wrenched from them. "My bat, my ball."

I'm still with Tango, it carries on from where Mambo left off, an evolution.

  • A name for the modular conception (same house) of the system,
  • And domains are available..

I think the Devs should brand their "engine" OSM for this, their central point of contact and reference.

Then we, as site designers/owners, can state something simple like...

"Powered by OSM"

Barring that, i really, really like Melody or Harmony.

They incite a pleasent emotional response while intimating a cooperative environment.

MelodyCMS (.net, .org are available)
HarmonyCMS (.com, .net, .org all available) *not to be confused with eHarmony.com :)

Image

Rough layou, not real sure about the colors :)

I advocate breaking away from the Mambo-esque schemes in anticipation of having to explain to a client the difference between these products with similar names... Granted, my clients wouldn't be coming to me if they have done enough research to find Mambo in the first place :P

In any case, my vote lies with one of the above.

When suggesting a name may I recommend that we each check out:
1. if the name is already registered, or likely to be subject to legal restrictions;
2. if the domain names are available.

Many of the names suggested so far are already the legal and trading names of other entities.  Many do not have any domains left for assignment.  And, while I hate to have to say this, we need to be aware of possible connotations in other languages/other socieities.  (So far, we have had names of cars, racist slurs, and, in one case, the name of a well-known personal hygene item!)

The dev team have so much on their plates at the moment that the least we can do is make sure the names we put forward as suggestions are both appropriate and available.

Just my 0.02c worth :)

OK, I've read all 12 pages of posts so far and like about half of the names suggested.

I came up with this afterwards

XOR CMS

What do you think?

xorcms.com is avail and I like the definition.

Exclusive disjunction (usual symbol xor) is a logical operator that results in true if one of the operands, but not both of them, is true.

In my view, sort of describes us and Miro. hehe

I don't know, just had to throw it out here.
