FAQ: What do the locks mean? How do I get rid of them?

Post by mcsmom » Sat Oct 07, 2006 2:06 pm

If you look at the conent manager in the backend (administration interface) you may see locks next to some content items.

The locks indicate that Joomla! believes that these items are currenty being edited.

If they are not really being edited, most likely they were not properly closed the last time they were edited.

To fix this you have two choices.

To get rid of them all, you can use global checkin. System>Global Checkin.

To get rid of a specific lock, open the item and close it properly.

Proper closing means that you either cancel or save. The problem is caused by using the browser back button instead of cancelling.
