Hard to say but one scenario is that Miro will ban everyone and make it a commercial site, pay in order to download basis...

You're right guilliam.
I should have been more accurate about my point.
They might as well delete everything and then make it a pay site for future addons...

I think Miro cannot beat all world. And mamboforge content owners have completely rights to it. But today it will be happen all things... All I can see - Miro don't doing anything fast. We have some day(s) yet to make a mirror on our HHDs.

hello @Dikud, yes.. on the other thread this was also discussed and @ambieant stated that they have backups on their locals.. of course it will be better to keep a thousand back ups than keeping one alone.

Give me 24 hours to make some phone calls, and I might have a solution for everyone :-)

In short, if you host your project at MamboForge you still own your project, and if you choose to move then Miro has to allow it.

I can't even access mamb*forge right now, it says the connection timed out.  I'm going to take my files off there and just have links to where people can download my files off my own site (just in case Miro tries anything they shouldn't).

I don't think anyone has to worrie about all the files hosted on Mamboforge. There are many sites like http://www.mambozip.com that host the files as well.

Hiya!

The only thing to worry about is files/versions that are not released yet, so they can't be hosted anywhere else.

I was due to release the final version of Contacts XTD today, but don't think so at the moment. Fortunately, I have all the files on my local workstation aswell, so as soon as there is another solution available - preferably at opensourcematters.org ;) -  I'll move over.

It takes long but mamboforge is still within reach.

I have put all my files to my own site and have deleted the files on mamboforge, IMHO it is more secure for me ;) until further infos comes about the solution here.

@Predator, yeah retried again,.. and same also with other mambers that i've i.m.ed same oeration time out.

it might be bec of the entire community panic, in which a huge number is downloading and mirroring the entire site and its contents.

good idea on the contribution.. yes,.. thats exactly the topic of this thread.. what soon would come to other developers who contributed.. hence seeing the figures,.. its still a dot of the community who knew/informed about the incident.

Only PL knows what happens in his mind, so nobody knows, but don`t think it will happen that soon.

OT:

PL reminds me of the lines of a song from "the corrs" titled "This boy is cracking up" goes:

------------

The girl's a fool, she broke the rule, she hurt him hard
This time he will break down
She's lost his trust and so she must know all is lost
The system has broke down
Romance has broke down

This boy is cracking up
This boy has broken down (yeah yeah hey)
This boy is cracking up
This boy has broke down

------------

hmmmmnnn....

just an o.t. guys. mind f*rt that is.

$amboforge is reachable again however, it takes some time to login.
I already cleaned up the CVS two hours ago, and now the published files are gone aswell.
Of course not before doing some local backup ;)

I'll stay tuned as to hear of some new home for my orphaned component :)

I think we shouldn't just be closing our projects on Mamboforge.  Instead, we should remove the files, but upload text files and/or have links in the project description about where to download the files in the interim.  This way new (and regular) users can still find the files if they need them, but we have full control over our files.

Mamb*Forge sucks anyways, as all opensource-collecting software sites do. Nice time to come up with an easy, user friendly layout.

Actually, I find it a great relief to know there will be a new reposity site that's user friendly. I was getting a *little* frustrated with the old site.

Well, I am being polite...

Well, you can download them. This whole issue and my closing the project at mamboforge at least produced something good in the end. I finally managed to create a site for my component in one day, something I couldn't get through with for the last two month.

Go take a look at http://www.clockbit.com, I just released Version 1.0.0 at this very moment.
