moscms for Mambo Open Source Content Management System by using the acronym to formulate your new name.

Why be so afraid of using Mambo? PostNuke was not worried when they forked from Nuke. They even kept "nuke" in their new name. I think keeping the above connection with Mambo will not be an issue.

There are a lot of other "Mambo" something sites out there that will only be supporting the real open source project. Are they to be running scared from Miro for using Mambo in their name? I seriously doubt it as history has already shown.

There is no need for all those other sites to change their name to support this project is there? So why would this project "totally" disconnect themselves from Mambo? I'm sure the lawers they have retained will have the answer.

I say keep "mambo" in your thoughts for a new name and let the lawyers decide if it's sueable.

My suggestion for the new name is JAMBO

Jambo is the name of a brazilian fruit and it is similar to Mambo's sound. See how it looks

My 2 cents:

* Metatron, Metatetron, Merraton or Metaraon. Also Metator (latin) or Metaphor
All different spellings of Metatron the archangel whose primary task among the heavenly court is to maintain the eternal archives. Also referred to as the "voice of God".

I'm not particularily religious but using the name of the greatest scribes of them all seems apt...

Then the community mambers would become 'trons or metas or, with a twist... mentats or metaphors

How about "Mambotron" then? The more I think of the huge developers community with all their many "$anbo'd" domain names, (including one I had just purchased,) the more I cringe over the loss of the name.

Not sure who originally suggested it, but I'd thought of this one myself as well:

A small, representative system having analogies to a larger system in constitution, configuration, or development.

Now, that is one very nice meaning for a new name for this project

Although, the word has at least one too many syllables and doesn't shorten so well..

OSMO is also a nice sounding name.

That will be when the dev team have settled on a name and secured the relevant domains and possibly trademark.

3 Phoenix (maybe as Fenix, which is the latin term)
4 Blueprint

I also suggest:

- OAK (One of A Kind CMS)
- Voxpop (again from latin, Vox Populi, "Voice of the people".

Besides I think it's of vital importance to register our best picks so far, so we avoid that someone registers for example tangocms or cosmos-cms and variations herof.

I do like TangoCMS. But both .com and .org were (coincidentally) registered on 18-AUG by some guy in Paso Robles, California.

Let us not loose site of the fact that there are dns whores out there who try to make a living from registering and reselling what may be perceived as a popular domain name. Some of those may be monitoring this thread as we write. Just something to consider.

I still like the idea of finding sponsorship to hire a marketing firm to do the work for us. Just thinking out loud.

I believe a fellow member obtained the URLs to keep someone else from getting. He offered to hand them over it that name was picked.
