Sorry - that was a late-night post!
Almost all the article on the site I'm building will make use of the ability to turn off the intro text when you view the full article. But the intro text will still be displayed, together with any thumbnails, in the frontpage and other blog-style index pages. You can see what I mean at

At present, though, the only way to do this is to log in to the Admin back-end and change every page as it comes in from the various authors. I'd like the authors to be able to do this themselves; or, preferably, to have a global setting in the Gobal Configuration, so that intro text is always hidden, and new pages can inherit that global setting. As happens with the author & date variables, for example.
If you meant the date-thing; well, it would be handy if that was a setting I could pick in the config, rather than editing any code. I can pick my locale, but I find the extra comma in the date display to be most irritating!
