Help validating my site
Hi Guys. Iam using the html tidy plugin for firefox to verify my html and have got 142 warnings on my page. Most of my warnings are refererring to the unescaped & or unknown entity "&task". These are actual links to pages that have been created thro joomla. I have also got 24 warnings referring to my google ads frame. Does anyone know how I can rectify this problem.
Here is a link to my website so you can check it out.

See there and it should tell you.
Though if you can't see any problems should it really matter? I've checked both Firefox 2.0.0.4 and IE7, looks good to me.

Re: Help validating my site
I'd say your index.php file - I think. Either in your root folder (top) or the template folder, your template you're using. I am pretty sure. Someone else may be able to help you further but I am not exactly sure. I haven't come across this type of thing before.
I see you've started already, now 119 errors down from 152.
Make a backup first!!!!!!! Make a backup first!!!!!!!

Re: Help validating my site
According to the error report, lots of errors occur in the com_search file under root/components but I am not sure where to edit them.

Re: Help validating my site
It seems the index.php file in your top-level directory is where the errors are occuring. I can try and fix a bit for you, check your Private Messages,

drew. have just discovered where the majority of my errors are occuring about 80 errors. Its to do with my tag cloud on the right of my page. Am gonna see if I can sort that out.

Re: Help validating my site
Yeah where all that stuff is on your right-hand side is where errors occur. That's where it said in the code. Remove those and see what happens.
I just did a test on mine as a quick check...15 errors only.

Re: Help validating my site
Don't quote me.
I suspect the \n"; is the error.
As for the second bit, I am not sure.

Re: Help validating my site
Not quite sure at this stage. But whatever you did it has 128 errors now rather than the 119.
I don't think they're critical errors so they won't affect how the site works. Even Joomla.org has 7 or so errors, but I cannot figure this out. Give me a while unless someone else figures it out first.

32 according to the Validator page. But that's 87 less.
I had to admit, nobody could do as bad as MySpace at 220+ errors.

Re: Help validating my site
You've pretty much ironed them out. I did a couple - closed off the tag for the Assoc part with />, but I forgot to bloody well save it. Otherwise I would have sent it through for you. Sorry about that.
And if you need help, PM me anytime or email - my email's there.

Help getting my links validated
Hi guys. Am just validating my pages. Had 130 or so warnings and now have 13. The main issues are with this sort of thing unescaped & or unknown entity "&id". These links have been created thro Joomla and are linking to my static content pages. How can I locate this problem. I know how to rectify it change the & to & but do not know where it is in joomla to change it.
Would anyone be able to point me in the right direction

Re: Help getting my links validated
This is rather the same issue in general as your other post (validation) so I am going to merge the two together.

Re: Help validating my site
Guys,
If you change the links like the posts above, it will break your links. PHP requires the variables in the form of variableOne=abc&variableTwo=def&variableThree=ghi etc, etc...
The variables are passed in the URI.
cheers
