Re: How to verify my site in Google Console
I believe that the file you are referring to has the name something like googlexyz.html where xyz is a random string.
If this is the case, you have to copy that file in the directory where Joomla is installed.

Re: How to verify my site in Google Console
Hi there,
Verifying your site with Google can be a bit tricky, especially with Joomla sites. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you add the HTML verification file:
Download the HTML file: Make sure you have downloaded the HTML verification file from Google Search Console.
Access your Joomla site: Log in to your Joomla administration panel.
Upload the HTML file:
Go to the File Manager or use an FTP client to access your Joomla site files.
Navigate to the root directory of your Joomla installation (where your index.php file is located).
Place the HTML file: Upload the HTML verification file provided by Google directly into the root directory of your Joomla site. It should not go between headers in index.php but in the root directory itself.
Verify: Once uploaded, go back to Google Search Console.
Click on "Verify" in Google Search Console.
Google will check for the presence of the verification file. If found, your site will be verified successfully.
Confirm verification: After a few moments, Google should confirm that your site has been verified. You should then see a success message in Google Search Console.
Remember, it may take a little time for Google to recognize the verification file. If you encounter any issues, double-check the file name and location, and ensure that you are uploading it correctly to the root directory of your Joomla site.
If you have any more questions or need further assistance, feel free to ask!

Re: How to verify my site in Google Console
Thanks so much for your advice.
I am not sure how to upload a html file directly to my root directory in Joomla.
Is there perhaps a video I can watch on how to do this.
Many thanks

Re: How to verify my site in Google Console
Hi
You don't do it in Joomla. You use either FTP from your computer, or more likely your hosting company control panel. It should have a "File manager" of sort, where you'll be able to navigate to your site root folder and upload a file there.I am not sure how to upload a html file directly to my root directory in Joomla.
