On our main website, pptu.org, I got this error once last month and worked around it by using the insert photo options instead. When I restored new.pptu.org using the latest backup of pptu.org, I get several of these errors but some of the photos are displayed correctly. The last time I used the subdomain new.pptu.org was back in the May timeframe and these errors didn't exist then. Sigplus hasn't changed since March. The only changes were I updated to the latest Joomla version twice and I upgraded from php 8.1 to 8.2 in August.

I get the following error message on about a half dozen different pages on the subdomain new.pptu.org:

Cannot add or update a child row: a foreign key constraint fails (`pptu_joomlatest`.`b9q1v_sigplus_data`, CONSTRAINT `b9q1v_FK_sigplus_data_property` FOREIGN KEY (`propertyid`) REFERENCES `b9q1v_sigplus_property` (`propertyid`) ON DELETE CASCADE)

The above message occurred at https://new.pptu.org/events/o-archive/june2024 when it encountered the following Sigplus directive: {gallery}outings/June2024{/gallery}

I have 2 questions about this problem:
1. Since I am not a database person, how do I fix this problem?
2. Since I restored new.pptu.org from the current pptu.org backup at the time and I don't get the same error at https://pptu.org/events/o-archive/june2024 is this possibly a problem with Akeeba Backup or Joomla 5.1.4 or 5.2 (I get the same errors with 5.2 and subdomain j3test.pptu.org)?

Since this is an extension-specific question (with that database error) the best approach is ask the developer for support.

I don't see the same error on the "j3test" subdomain.

Try a test.

In media manager create a folder within "Images" called "folder1". Load some test sample images into that folder. Create a test page and create the gallery with the short code {gallery}folder1{/gallery}. Does the gallery load? Try this on the domain that works and on the subdomain that doesn't work.

Then try the same thing but create a folder within "folder1" (i.e. images/folder1/folder2) and do the same thing - {gallery}folder1/folder2{/gallery}.

Does the sub-gallery images work in all the domains you mentioned?

Allow url fopen: No

Should be Yes.

Ask your host to change it or you may be able to set it from Software - Select PHP Version - Options of cPanel, provided by your host. It is not a security risk, as some hosts have claimed, and Joomla uses this function.

According to my cpanel page, allow_url_fopen is enabled for pptu.org and the two subdomains. I've attached a screenshot from the cpanel page. I will submit a ticket to my web hosting company to insure it's enabled.

Amurray: I was going to report it to the developer but then I checked the current version and they haven't had any changes since March. Also, these displays were working back in the May/early June time frame on pptu.org and the two subdomains.
I have attached the same error on the j3test subdomain.
I'm traveling for the next few days so it may be a few days before I can do your suggested test.

OK, I suppose how it is used is more to the point.

Perhaps I'm thinking of allow_url_include which I believe is the 'bad' one of the two.

toivo: Thank you very much for pointing this out. Almost a year ago when I was preparing to upgrade to Joomla 5, I requested that the hosting company enable allow_url_fopen and just assumed it was done but it wasn't! While it doesn't fix the sigplus extension problem I'm having it does ensure stability to our website (fpa grades it an A with 96.7% confidence level).

AMurray: After thinking about this problem while I was traveling, I'm going to the developer as you originally suggested. When I first migrated to Joomla 4, I was having a similar problem with the Sigplus extension but without an error message. To fix the problem, I simply reverted to the previous Sigplus version. When I upgraded to Joomla 5 the problem went away with the newer version of MySQL. As such, I'm going to try previous versions of Sigplus and contact them directly. Thanks again for your support. I really appreciate you taking the time to look at my problem.

AMurray, toivo: This morning, I installed the previous version of the Sigplus extension on the j3test subdomain and ALL photos are displayed correctly. The specific page that had the error message was https://j3test.pptu.org/events/o-archive/june2024. At least a half dozen other pages had the same error and all pages display the photos correctly now. I will report this problem to the developer. Thanks again for your support.
