Joomla & WordPress Mu Intergrated

Post by sebastiano » Sun Oct 14, 2007 2:36 am

HI,

just wanted to let you know I have managed to let Joomla Function with Wordpress Mu.

How it should work, when a user activates his account, a cronjob takes place to fill the main wordpress fields, place a link in the menu for register users only, that links directly to the wordpress login page, user needs to revalidate his login (same as main website).
and he can create his blogs.

at the moment I have to update the cronjob by hand, tomorrow i will finish the script, and run the live-demo on my website...

I'm not familiar with Joomla, I am a developer for phpwebthings wich is completely different, but soon i'll get the hang of it and start some modules on joomla to .. 8)

have a question ? well let me know

Hmm.. im wondering, if you can have it so if the person registers on Joomla it has a option for the user to register a blog at a later time and not at that moment. Like  a link in the UCP that then register and bridges WPMU.

Well there is no actual blog created at registration, we only pass the username/password to wordpress mu, this means at the wordpress mu site, you turn off registration and only allow existing users to create a new blog. only if the user actually goes to the wordpress mu site and does the login with the same user/pass from the main (joomla) website he can create a blog...

Jd-Wordpress has been redeveloped under a new development team.mojoblog

hi sariel,
thanks for the update but it seems its a single user blogging component which doesn't interest me at all. i think what most people are looking for is a multi-user blogging component. Probably an integration of Wordpress-MU with joomla.
anyways thanks and update the link for mojoblog. its broken.
regards,
Thai

I personally don't see a bridge being made for Joomla 1.0.x and Wordpress Mu.  Although its relatively easy to turn Joomla itself  into a multiuser blogging platform.

You may want to look at these:

JA Submit 2.1]

Jfoobar 's JPress looks great ... quite the feature list.

http://jfoobar.org/blog/93-jpress-feature-overview.html

I wish there was a rough ETA for it.

Something like Q1 2009 ? Q2 2009 ? Q3 2009 ?

FWIW, I am digitaldoctor @ jf.org :)

Looks great but is not for WPMU. There are only two posts here that cover the topic, and one link that gives the solution.

http://code.google.com/p/wordpress-mala ... :joomlauth

Let's talk the real integration of WPMU and Joomla 1.5.

1. How do you create multiple blogs on multiple Joomla subdomains with the joomlauth plugin for WPMU?

2. Do you use special DNS techniques to leave J15 on www. and use all other subdomains for WP users?

3. How do you solve the issue with the missing 3rd argument when logging for the first time to WPMU and creating the users blog?

Have you ever tried to install WPMU in conjunction with joomlauth?

If not, try it and only then post answers here. But first

1. Download WPMU at http://mu.wordpress.org
2. Get a dedicated server and install it
3. Install the joomlauth plugin

Let's help each other and fix the bugs. Or probably you do not encounter them. Then please share your experience.

Thank you

Not automatically, for every user. You have to use wpmu or Lifetype for that. WMPU is bettr option for me as it is mor CMS-like and has more plugins.
