JS/Snz.A Virus - False Positive Alert

Post by tony_l » Mon Dec 31, 2007 4:19 pm

The Problem:

When one of our employees tried to update a page in joomla, they were confronted with a message stating that their computer was infected with the JS/Snz.A Trojan Virus. It was occuring in the Temporary Internet Files for the page they were trying to acces- The tinymce editor and the JCE Editor.

Action:

Our team looked into it thinking that we had a breach somewhere in the linux servers. After scanning and looking, nothing was found.

Solution:

We contacted CA e-Trust. They state that they are aware of the problem. Many other sites are reporting the same thing. This is a FALSE POSITIVE. It WILL affect others trying to use Joomla sites. The problem has also been reported in Drupal and WordPress CMSes as well.

E-Trust is working on the issue apparently. You may want to warn your users of this problem. Hopefully CA will have an update within 24 hours, but as we all know it may take up to a week to fix it.

- Just wanted everyone on the Joomla Development Team and Forum users to know what we encountered this morning.

-Tony
