Joomla! 2005 Virtual Christmas BBQ (and New Year cheer).

Post by mediamagnate » Fri Dec 23, 2005 5:57 pm

Hi everyone.

Let's have a (virtual) drink of your choice to celebrate all of the good things that have come our way in 2005.

Season's Greetings from the team.

:D Please share with us how you celebrate during the festivities and holidays? Is it warm enough for you to have a Christmas BBQ? Are you away from the computer at this time of year? What is your Joomla! Christmas wish?  :D

Best to you all.

I think the Core Team should take a well deserved break over this festive season. A serious amount of work has been put into Joomla over the past few months, which has been recognised in the awards won at LinuxWorld in London back in October. I had the pleasure of attending the Gala Dinner where I sat next to Andrew and Alex and then met up with a larger contingent from the Core Team the next day. I think it is important to point out that the Core Team who attended the event in London did so at their own expense, which I think demonstrates their commitment to the project. Kudos to you all!

As for Christmas, I will be at home this year and no doubt attending some party with friends to see in the New Year. Unfortunately, we are a business which has to stay open 24 hours per day to ensure the websites we host (including joomla.org and this forum) are up and running for everyone to use. I will no doubt be contributing my part to our staff shifts over the festive season and be on call for part of it. I mean, what would you guys and girls do without these forums over the holiday season? :D

Merry Christmas to everyone and have a fantastic New Year! :)

For me personaly it has been a great year. Made many new friends, got the change to work with passionate and skilled people on great project and above all had alot of fun doing all this !

My Christmas holiday will be spend both celebrating the new year with friends and family. In between I will probably jump behind the PC to do some more coding on J! 1.1, hard to stay away from it  8) I'm very excited about where 1.1 is heading and the work done.

I wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. 2006 is going to be a great Joomla! year !

* Robin getting close to that warm BBQ fire *

Right, thats better  ;) I want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year as well !

Let's hope Joomla! will bring you as much fun in 2006 as it will for me... taking a break during christmas/new year myself, from Joomla! Celebrating the holidays with family. But as most of us, probably take a peak on the computer too.

My thoughts also go out to those people without the good fortune most of us have...

*... put's another log on the fire.....*

Cheers to our 16000+ fellow Joomlers! And specialy to the core team members. It was amazing to see how fast Joomla! became a stable (and dynamic!) project. I was very pleased with all the new third party project. We didn't have to wait to the last day of the year to experience fireworks.
I wish you all the best in 2006.

I'm going to see some 'real life' fireworks in Antwerp where I'm going to celebrate the turn of the year with some friends. My dear notebook may rest at home.

Me stand close to fire!!! I don't have the stomach for this dreadful Dutch weather. Hopefully I can celebrate it in Australia again next year.

Double date on christmas day. Celebrate my birthday with family, having friends over in the evening. Boxing day will be spend going to a football match in my hometown Rotterdam, going to the pub afterwards.

I will spend time behind my workstation probably, but that is always the case when I'm at home.

Cheers to all!

A very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all.

Special thanks to the Joomla! dev team for keeping up a solid system and many thanks to all on from this forum for your support, guidance and gettting me out of banging my head against my PC in times of frustration when Joomla! doesn't seems want to do what i tell it to (of course, this isn't Joomla!'s fault but my lack of patience at times).

We are with you through to the new year and more successful and happy days to come... :)

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year for all people sticked together this project and to the others ;)

Whooh...  If this is time to summarize current year, we all have something to say. Of course, the first word all of us will be 'joomla'. The second will be unique for everybody. For me this year was first in my life when my activity affected to the thousands of people, in this year I've understood the power of open source community efforts.

But this year almost finished and I can call those thime a 'half-time'. My web-child (ru-mambo.ru) was born in this year, but is some reasons I've left this project on the middle it's pathway... My mambo book was written at one half and I've stop to write because Joomla appears and I've receive it's great future. My new joomla-oriented project was started but currently stays in the second half of planned worksheet. Sometimes I was beginning to lose faith in myself on this way... and - that's the point of my speech ;) - my new friends supports me.

This is the main total of this year: we all got a huge quantity of friends and there's no precedent for this. We have made a little revolution together, we've open our faces to the others, we've got a new fresh look to the our neighbours, we've got an incredible emotional inspiration and stay with all this till this moment.
My personally thanks to Infograf: Merci beaucoup, Jean-Marie. Vous aites serves d'example pour moi et soutennes moi dans les temps d'agitation. Excuse moi si j'avais importun. Also I want to thanks Absalom, Ken, Brad, Michelle, Johan, Rey, Robin and Andrew for their time spent for me and others.

Happy holidays and be cool - next year will be a very hot ;)

Here's wishing everyone a very happy new year.

Been a hectic year here in India. We've had floods and tsunamis amid which major changes and new directions.

All in all an eventful year. Pray for a more peaceful 2006 for everyone.

It's New Years Eve here in New Zealand. I will be in 2006 along with all the other Kiwis before any of the rest of you catch up ;)
I did get a day away from work on Christmas Day to spend with family, dogs and good food, but work has had to continue. It's been kinda hard for me to get into the holiday spirit as the work on disastersearch.org still continues and we are still seeing new registrations.
However, I am enjoying the summer weather and am planning a few days lazing on the beach (without my laptop or PDA anywhere near!).

2006 is the first year that kicks off with Joomla! in it.  I hope it will be a good year for all involved.

Best wishes to everyone for a safe, happy and prosperous New Year!
