Login works, but Joomla still displays it as not-logged on

Post by slomoman » Fri May 16, 2008 1:21 pm

I have a strange problem with the login into my Joomla 1.0 application.

Sometimes, I log on with my user-id and password, and press "Login", but nothing seems to happen. No message, and it seems that I was not logged in. When I check in the administrator, it will show however that I am actually logged in (or the user, with which I am testing this).
However, in the frontend, everythink looks as if I am not logged in:
- i don't see the menu items that are shown only to registered users
- i still see the login module, and I do not see the logout-link
However, the redirection to the start page, that happens after login, still works.

This problem is not reproducable, and happens only every now and then. Yesterday it happened, and afterwards it was not possible for me to logon with any user-id anymore. I also switched of my profiler component (CBE) and all the modules, but still, login was not possible. I also tried to login both via the login module, and via the login page, but both did not work.

In the end, I deleted my temporary internet files, closed all browser windows, and started the application again, and voilá, it worked again.

Please tell me that anyone out there had the same problem already, and that there is something I can do :pop

Hi Jorge,

i am glad that at least i am not the only one who faces this problem.
Are you able to reproduce the problem, or is it coming unpredictably every now and then, as in my case?
Are you also using CBE (Community Builder Extended)?
Are you using any other special component? I am using CBE, a Gallery2 Bridge, and the Fireboard forum.

Regards,
D.

I used to have the same problem.Mr. Ranvilli then pointed out that it might arise due to the url that you type not matching the one given in configuration file.
there might be some mismatch in "www"
Or if u have the server in your machine, you might be using localhost/... and in the actual configuration file it might be 172.34.34.34/ ... etc
so try using the actual IP in the browser. It solved my problem 8)

Hi Mastkalandar,
thx for the hint, but it was not the cause of my problem.
If it was caused by some wrong URL in the configuration, this would not explain why it sometimes works and sometimes not, anyway.
