how much data joomla can handle?

i have a large data base which contains 48400 articles .i canverted that to joomla database now my joomla backend became slow.mysql database size is 225mb .what should i do?

You have a ways to go yet so optimizing your site is the best choice.
Yes, there is a limitation to the number of articles a default Joomla! website can store: just over 4 billion articles.

Technical background: All articles are stored in a MySQL database, in a table called jos_contents. Every article has its unique ID, which is stored in the ID field. The ID field is of field type INT(11) unsigned. The highest number that can be stored in an INT(11) unsigned field, and hence the maximum ID that can be used, is 4,294,967,295. So, the maximum number of articles that a Joomla! website can contain is 4,294,967,295.

that is good but i want to know if 48400 article wil slow my website or not .my joomla backend is already getting slow.

It shouldnt make any difference at all unless you have done something stupid like putting all the content in one category

i have 149 category for that much articles .will it be a problem?

thats fine but please i need some more confirmation.i have another problem .when i am exporting my database ,its exporting only 28000 rows .i dont know why i am getting this problem?
