Change Logo on localhost (SOLVED)

Hello everyone,

I've been scouring the forums for a definitive answer but i don't really know what to look for.

I have a few questions and I thank all of you in advance for answering it to a newbie like me.

1) I am running Joomla on XAMPP, does that mean that I am running it 'locally'?
2) I wanted to change the logo on my 'local' joomla site so i went to C:\Users\presario v3000\Desktop\Joomla\templates\ja_purity\images and replaced the logo.gif and logo.png files with logos that i have created in Photoshop. So now the logos have changed, the names, logo.gif and logo.png is still the same. When i go over to my locally hosted website i refresh the page and cleared the cache but the logo is still the same.

Am i replacing the files correctly in my folders in my PC? Or do i need to change it somewhere else?

2. That is not the correct place to change logo images. There should be a subdirectory under the xamp directory that is called htdocs. There you will find Joomla\templates\ja_purity\images. Replace the logos there and they will be changed on the test site.

I found logo.png in C:\xampp\htdocs\mysite\ ... and replaced it with my png logo that is the same size, but I still do not see it on the page. Does anyone know why? I'm working in Joomla 2.5 on localhost
