We were checking our accounts and found that one or more of your Joomla installations is currently out of date. It's critical that you update Joomla to the latest stable version, as the currently installed version has some severe security vulnerabilities that put your website and hosting account in jeopardy. We have provided these easy-to-use instructions to help you: 1. Access the administrator directory inside your Joomla installation via Webshell within your control panel. 2. Be sure to turn on the "show hidden files" option and look for a file named .htaccess in your Joomla administrator directory. You will need to delete this .htaccess file 3. If you find an .htaccess.UNPROTECTED file, rename it to .htaccess 4. Log in to your Joomla Administrator account to check current version of your Joomla installation.. It is shown on the top right of administrator dashboard. 5. Click on this link and locate the row that matches your current installation version and the patch package in your preferred format (zip, tar.gz and tar.bz2) and download that package to your hard drive by clicking on the desired link. 6. Before you actually upgrade, it is very important that you make a backup of your site. Backup your existing Joomla site files using Webshell, as well as your database using phpMyAdmin, and store all the files locally so that you can restore your Joomla installation should the upgrade not go as planned. To backup your site files: Log in to the Webshell. Check the box next to the files and folders to be archived and downloaded. Click the archive button in the top level menu. An archive form shows to the right with a name of the zipped file. Click the create button to proceed. You can then click the file icon beside the created archive file to download it. To create a backup: Click the phpMyAdmin icon on the control panel. Clic Launch button user which has access to your Joomla database. Click the specific database name that you would like to create a backup of. On the left hand side, click the database name in the drop down box. Click the 'export' tab located near the top of the screen. Choose your preferred format type and any options you would like to apply. At the bottom, check 'Save as File' and create a name for the backup. You may also choose a compression format. Click go. Depending on your browser's settings, the backup file may automatically download or your browser may prompt you to save the file. 7. Upload the upgrade package to the folder with your Joomla installation and uncompress it using WebShell. 8. Check to make sure that your site works as expected. If you find a problem and it cannot be resolved quickly you might have to rollback the upgrade using the backup copy you created in step 6. Thank You! If you have any questions, feel free to contact Customer Support by selecting 24/7 Help Center (along the left hand column) from within your account.
