PayPal button not working

Postby angelsguitar » Sun Oct 16, 2011 10:53 am

Hi.

I'm trying to insert a PayPal "Add to Cart" button in an article on my website, following the instructions I found here: http://docs.joomla.org/How_do_you_add_a_PayPal_button%3F. When I click on it, it just opens another window with the same page from my website, but the PayPal cart is not shown.

Any idea on how can I solve this? Thanks.

Hi angelsguitar,

I am having the same issue. Did you ever find a solution? Thank you, kindly.

Because by default Joomla strip the url of your Paypal buttons, first make sure to disable filtering before saving your articles. For example if you use super administrator to edit your articles do the follow:

[*]Content, Article Manager
[*]From there in the upper right hand corner, click "options"
[*]In "Article Manager Options" go to tab "Text filters"
Set "Super Users" to "no filter"

I have the same problem with a PayPal donate button on a charitable site but I'm afraid the above solution did not work. The only workaround I have come up with is to create a basic html page with the PayPal donate button on it and link from there.

Sorry for the delay in answering.

I never found a solution to this (although I have not tested the solution above; didn't know about that). I ended buying Big Al's Flexible PayPal Pro extension. It's just $5 and works great; very easy to configure. They even have a free edition for Joomla 1.5.

I'll take a look at Big Al's Paypal extension. Thanks.

I just went through the process of getting the PayPal button to work on our Joomla site. With the help of PayPal's technical support, I found that although I had back-end administrative permission, I had to log-in as the Super Administrator to get it to work.

Log-in as the Super Administrator and go through your article manager to edit the article. Once you are in the article, the toolbar above the textbox will have a blue "HTML" button on the right end the second row. When you click that it opens the HTML editor. I then pasted the PayPal code, and clicked "Update". The PayPal button then appeared in the text box and I was able to adjust the alignment as I wanted.

Anyone found a better way to resolve this issue? Im using Joomla 1.5 and dont have the "option" button in the Article Manager section. And the editor keeps stripping away the "action" function of the code. I am super user when logged in ..

I have tried everything. It is possible to get the button to appear and operate with no problem but you get an error when you get to the Paypal page.

I have had to compromise by creating a basic HTML page containing the code, which I display as a wrapper. The HTML page, being outside the core system, works OK as it is not subject to Joomla!'s vaguaries. Not satisfactory, I know, but it works!

I have not tried this, but maybe it could work with an extension like this one:

http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions/edition/custom-code-in-modules/15251

Although it is a module extension, it can be made to display in an article using the {loadposition} instruction.

I am hoping to revive this old thread as I am having an issue with a Pay Pal button. I have used the sourcerer extension to insert the code into an article and the button appears as desired but when you click on it, it doesnt go anywhere - the computer thinks about it for a moment but then doesnt do anything.

Please see www.tempeststudio.co.uk (Events Page) and you can click the Buy Now button which will show you what I mean.

I have another website in joomla with a paypal button, it has been created in exactly the same way and works fine.

The difference between the two sites is that this site's domain is owned by someone else and is forwarded to a directory on my hosting, whereas the site that works is my domain on my hosting. Could this be causing the problem? I would really appreciate any advice anyone can give.

You could try htyrel's solution above. Or, if you don't mind spending $5, try Big Al's Flexible PayPal Pro extension.

Thanks for the reply, i am using the extension that hyrel suggests. It works fine for one site but not for another. Could this be due to the other site's domain not being owned by me and not being covered by an SSL certificate?

I believe you may be confusing htyrel's response with the extension I suggested. Htyrel's suggestion is not an extension but a change in admin configuration. Here is it again:

htyrel wrote:Because by default Joomla strip the url of your Paypal buttons, first make sure to disable filtering before saving your articles. For example if you use super administrator to edit your articles do the follow:

[*]Content, Article Manager

Well, in that case, I really don't know what else to suggest. Sorry I can't help you any further.

If I think of something else I'll post it in here.
