WARNFILETOOLARGE after update to 2.5.17

Post by catholicnews » Tue Jan 28, 2014 3:01 pm

After upgrading to 2.5.17, I'm able to upload a couple files to the media manager and then I'm given the warning "WARNFILETOOLARGE" no matter how large the file is (as small as 60 kb) or which folder I upload it to the site. I haven't had size upload issues in any of the previous versions of our site (http://www.catholicnewsherald.com).
Our server has increased our file upload size to 50 MB and we do not have any errors in the logs.
Re-installing 2.5.17 update again allows us to upload a couple photos and then this error triggers.
I've checked the files described http://joomlacode.org/gf/project/joomla ... m_id=28713 and all of our settings match what is suggested.

Any idea what to do next?
Thank you.

Hello that is a very old tracker item and not applicable anymore. That was on Joomla 2.5.6 and this issue has not been identified in the current version. I suggest you go to Install and install from URL and paste this link http://joomlacode.org/gf/download/frsre ... ackage.zip and hit install

That should give you a clean version

Thank you for your prompt reply. We're having the issue on the clean version of 2.5.17. I only referenced that previous version link because it's the only forum I found that mentioned the error. I did not make any changes. In fact, I've uploaded 3 files since the clean install and I'm getting the error again.

Any suggestions?

Hi,
We installed the clean update again this morning after the error message stopped uploads again. Any idea (other than re-installing 2.5.17 every day) to fix this issue?

Thanks,

Hello, this is my first time in the forum, I hope this helps.

I was getting the same message (all caps WARNFILETOOLARGE) and found an error in the file /administrator/components/com_media/helpers/media.php line 75

Code: Select all

		$maxSize = (int) $params->get( 'upload_maxsize', 0 );
		if ($maxSize > 0 && (int) $file['size'] > $maxSize)
		{
			$err = 'WARNFILETOOLARGE';
			return false;
		}
$maxSize here returns whatever value you put into the media manager options. Here you're asked for a number in Mb (e.g. you put in 10, for 10Mb). However, the $file['size'] variable returns a number in bytes (e.g. 52669 for a small file).

It's comparing Mb with bytes! So the comparison

Code: Select all

(int) $file['size'] > $maxSize
(52669 > 10) will usually be true (very few files will be 10bytes or less!). It's comparing Mb with bytes! I changed this code to the below and now uploads work, with whatever max size I put in.

Code: Select all

		$maxSize = (int) $params->get( 'upload_maxsize', 0 ) * 1000000;
		if ($maxSize > 0 && (int) $file['size'] > $maxSize)
		{
			$err = 'WARNFILETOOLARGE';
			return false;
		}
Or you could not change the code and put in a number in bytes instead of Mb in the Media manager options. BUT....Putting 0 for unlimited size uploads still fails. That error is elsewhere, I haven't found where yet...

Hope this helps

Check the settings in the media manager to see whether the limit is very small or even non-existent. Make it something like 50 MB and see if that works. If it doesn't, please post back here.

Hi again. I had already upped the max file size to 50 mb on my end and asked our host to up our allowance as well, and it didn't fix it.

ladelentes code fix worked in 2.5.17 and then we upgraded to 2.5.18 and we're having the same error again. This time, it doesn't fix it.

Any suggestions?

Thank you,

Kimberly

Hello,
I found that this topic has already been discussed but I can't see anyone giving an answer, so since I am new to this forum i will post here and then also as a new topic:

I can't upload images any more since I upgraded to Joomla! 2.5.17, I get
WARNFILETOOLARGE even when I have set up the max file at 500Mb and my file is only 2Mb!!!
Hope you can help!
Cheers!
