SMF-Joomla/Mambo Bridge Installation problem

Post by garyeqm » Wed Sep 28, 2005 9:19 am

Hi all,

I have installed SMF fine, but when I try step one of the bridge to mambo / Joomla, I get

Installing this package will perform the following actions:
Type Action Description
1. Execute Modification ./Sources/Subs.php Failure
2. Execute Modification ./index.php Success
3. Extract File ./Sources/MOS_SMF.php

And nothing I do seems to rectifyit,  there SHOULD be success next to each one! Ive set the permissions to 777 on all three of those files but still no joy.

PLEASE help if you can!

Thank you

Gary

I don't have access here to check atm, but if you open the Subs.php file I think it's eay to follow through what that file does.

Just a guess, as I said, I can't check before posting this.

Gary...  it looks like you are installing the wrong version of the bridge for your version of SMF.

See my post on the SMF forums since I only skim these forums...

Hiya buddy,

Sorry for the time delay in response... haven't been online the past 14hours.

When I was using the forum's package installer to install the mod for the bridge, I had two successes and one failure on the list.

Nothing I could find online answered the failure reason and nothing I could find in the code (although I could've looked harder) answered the reasoning behind it either.

So I backed up and applied the mod anyway.  It seems to have worked seamlessly. (/me frantically touches wood).

I know that does not sound at all convincing... but I followed the four steps included in the zip file and now there is a fully integrated SMF board working with my CMS.  The one login logs a user into both.. the forums automatically got all the users transferred with the same account details from the mambo 4.5.2 / joomla 1.0 to the forum etc.

Back it up and give it a go...  worst case scenario is restoring your backup.
