SMTP Test mail JSON error J 3.6.3

Post by rocketmouse » Fri Oct 21, 2016 4:07 pm

When trying to send a test email from the global config after the upgrade to j3.6.3 I get the following error:

An error has occurred while fetching the JSON data: HTTP 0 status code.

Nothing else has changed..

Any thoughts?

As soon as I restored back to 3.6.2, mail started working again. Something must be buggy with 3.6.3

Error Checking was added to the JSON decoder. You have some corrupted JSON Data in your Site.

I have the exact same issue. Has anyone found the solution? Any advice how to fix this is greatly appreciated.

Hello again,

I found this info page, somewhere in the middle it talks about the above issue, copy-pasting from the source:
https://www.joomlashack.com/blog/tutorials/363/

--------------------------------------------------------
Error decoding JSON data: Syntax error

This issue can occur either on the back-end or front-end. Michael Babker, in the comments on this post, says the problem is caused by some 3rd party extensions with invalid JSON sources.

Only a couple of extensions have reported this issue so far:

JB Library Plugin
JUpgrade
If you know of any other extensions, please leave a comment below. We'll add it to the list. Thanks!

The only workaround is to disable these extensions. Joomla will likely release a fix for this issue soon. Hopefully, those extension developers will also release new versions of their extensions.
--------------------------------------------------------

How can we determine which extension causes the issue to notify the developers?

Thank you for any info you can provide.
