Update Joomla 3.5 to 3.6 - Manually

Post by gustavomoty » Tue Dec 13, 2016 1:42 pm

Hello,

I have to update joomla manually because it is installed in a server that cannot be online, so I need to do it in the offline way, i.e., manually. Is there any way I could do it?

Hello,

It is pretty straight forward.

1. Download the relevant upgrade package from https://downloads.joomla.org/cms/joomla3/3-6-4
2. Now to go Joomla Admin and navigate to Components > Joomla Update and select Upload & Update Tab
3. Choose File using the button just like any other extension and click "Upload and Install.

Let us know if you face any problems.

Hope this helps.

Obviously, you can't use Upload & Update in J3.5, it is not there!
It is one of the first features mentioned for 3.6.

You don't need to do it manually, but if you insist: Download both the update and postupdate from mbabker. Extract the update over your current installation and call postpudate.php with your browser to apply the update.

For sites without access to internet you should use the custom channel. You need to create your own xml from the one used normally. See your update sites. Download the update and place it in the folder designated as temp in Joomla.
Use Joomla! Update Live Update to update.
Issue with migrating? Include logs/joomla_update.php in your report!
Blank screen? Verify pagesource for HTML code (javascript error)
Installation failing on populating database? Install with set_time_limit(0)
Document your customizations!
