Can't configure reCaptcha to work

Post by websroger » Wed Mar 08, 2017 10:32 pm

I want something on the registration page to help cut down spam registrations. I invoke reCapcha, get the site and secret codes, and I get the error in the reCaptcha box:
ERROR for site owner:
Invalid domain for site key

I know my domain name, but is Joomla sending a different one than I give to reCaptcha in my setup? Any suggestions?

The message says it all.... You have the a wrong site key entered. Just delete the key at Google, re-create the key(s) and Copy and paste them into the plugin. That for sure resolves this issue

Leo: I've recreated the keys, copied and pasted the new ones, several times, no effect. The google reCaptcha page has 4 different lines for my site, based on attempts to get it working, and I can't find a way to delete any of them. This could be part of the problem.

Probably due to a cookie either on the browser or in Joomal, it knows when I go to the website that it is me (the admin), and now I find, with some experimentation, that the reCaptcha API is working for all site users except me. That explains the message saying "Error for site owner". Don't know why, but anyway that ends the quest. Thanks to all for suggestions.
