Redirect Manager missing? Topic is solved

After upgrade from 3.6.5 to 3.7.0 and 3.7.1 the Redirect Manager is no longer listed in the Components Drop down.

Extensions > Plugins "System-Redirect" is enabled. I tried to disable/enable toggle, didn't help.

I have 3 independent installations that I have upgraded to 3.7.1, Redirect Manager is missing from each of them. Otherwise the installations appear to be working fine.

I searched for some official news that this has been removed, didn't find it, so I assume it should still be there.

In the screen "Extensions: Discover" (Extensions => Manage -> Discover), if you click on the button "Discover", do you see the component "Redirects"?

Note: I tested the upgrade from 3.6.5 -> 3.7.0 -> 3.7.1 and I could still see the component Redirect.

Thanks for the prompt reply. No, when I do a discovery there is no component "Redirects".

Only if I do Extensions => Manage then "Redirects" and "System - Redirect" are both listed. Both are marked "Protected Extensions" and version 3.0.0.

Please post the results of Forum Post Assistant (FPA) at viewtopic.php?f=621&t=582860. This will help others to see what is in your environment that prevents the display of the component Redirect.

You have elevated permissions on some of your folders (775 rather than 755) and these need addressing sooner rather than later. If you install Admin Tools Core (Free) there is a function for setting the correct/desired permissions for files and folders - recommended

It looks like some of your added components might be out of date or early-release versions (JCK Editor) and you have some "Unknown" components . Is everything up to date? What are these "unknown" extensions?

After upgrade from 3.6.5 to 3.7.0 and 3.7.1, Redirects is no longer listed in the Components drop down [menu].

I think I understand the problem.

I was faced with a similar issue a while ago when I "lost" a menu item on the administrator site. I cannot explain how this situation came about; sometimes these things happen for no logical reason. The fix, however, is easy.

The first thing to do I would do is look at the details of the Redirects component: go to Extensions » Manage » Manage and locate the Redirects component (see the following screenshot)

Find the ID number of the component.

Next, use phpMyAdmin: open the table _menu, compare the component_id column that corresponds to the com_redirects component as you'll see in the following screenshot.

If the numbers do not match, edit the row, change the component_id value so that it matches the ID in the first screenshot.

I can't speak for your website: I can only speak from my own experience. In my experience, all the [menu] items appearing under the Components menu in the backend have Published = 1 in the database. What you do is your business.

Same problem with a new install of Joomla! 3.8.3

When you write that this "same problem" occurs with a new installation of J! 3.8.3:

a) when you created this "new installation" did you start use the standard J! 3.8.3 installation package or did you "install" it with a "quick installation" script manufactured by yourself or by your webhosting provider?
b) when you created this "new installation" did you locate the files with a sub-folder of an existing website or within its own separate folder (at the "top level" of your /public_html folder)?
c) when you created the "new installation" did you start with a totally new set of database tables or did you re-use an existing set of database tables (e.g. tables used from another website)?

In almost every case that I've seen on this issue, the cause of the problem lies within the database. Furthermore, all the cases that I've seen involve updating from an older version of Joomla to a newer version of Joomla; I have never seen a case involving the non-display of one or more component menu items from the Joomla admin site in connection with a brand-new, stock-standard, vanilla-flavoured installation of Joomla.

One thing that just crossed my mind it that this new installation was the Gantry RocketLauncher… http://gantry.org/downloads

I'm going to do a fresh install with a clean copy of Joomla and go from there.
