Sorry by saying that, but your newest joomla update is really sooooooooooo very bad!!!! It destroyed my entire backend area. After logging in, I only received a white page! Please do us all a favor and stop by releasing unfinished updates!!!!!!

Maybe all the files didn't extract from the zip package. Try updating manually

- Get the 3.8.1 update package https://downloads.joomla.org/cms/joomla ... format=zip

- FTP to your host root and extract

- Run the postupdate.php script. See the details and script from MBabker https://gist.github.com/mbabker/d7bfb4e ... 3607f89281

To find out the reason of white page
(possibly a 3rd party extension that overrides a CORE class file)

Edit configuration.php (after finding the reason, revert the changes)
change
public $debug = '0';
to
public $debug = '1';

change
public $error_reporting = 'default';
to
public $error_reporting = 'maximum';

you should now be seeing the reason of the white page
