Menu Item Type displaying only Administrator components - Joomla 3.8.5

When creating a new menu item (or editing an existing one), the Menu Item Type popup is only showing items from the back end rather than the front end. See the attached screen shot for details. From what I can recall this started happening since upgrading to Joomla 3.8.5.

Close. And thank you for sending me off on an excursion through customizing the Admin menus... I hadn't messed with that for years. I suppose I have just gotten quite used to the standard layout as the number of sites I've worked on has grown.

Also, my title was a bit misleading. It's not that I'm seeing only Administration menu items for my choices... it's that I'm seeing them as well as the standard front end choices.

So I can carry on... though I really would like to get to the bottom of this. I don't like it when things are out of sorts.

Oh and as a bit of a further test, I next installed the AcyMailing component to see if it would show up as option in the list for Menu Item Type, and it did. Prior to this it was not installed on the site.

So, though I haven't done a complete inventory of what front end components are installed and compared it to what's showing up in the Menu Item Type chooser, I do know that newly installed components are making it into the mix. For whatever that's worth.

You seem to be using Isis as default front-end template...
But Isis (and Hathor) are back-end templates.
That is probably at least part of your problem.

Hmmmm... You caught that at the end of FPA where Isis is bold and underlined? I assume that's the indicator that it is the default? If true, that contradicts what I am seeing here:

By the way, why are some items blue and some red in the FPA?
EDIT: I just realized blue items are native to Joomla and red ones are third party.

Yes.
Very strange. I've never seen the back-end templates listed under the "site" templates...
Something is wrong there, but I lack the knowledge to help solve this, sorry.
