issue with update and installtion

Post by Rawan_Abdullah » Wed Jul 11, 2018 12:55 pm

Hi

I'm new to Joomla ,and I am working for this company who are using Joomla for their site
I don't know exactly how to work on with and build my pages in the website
anyway
I'm trying to upload an extension for building forms, using the JED instillation , but an error with " Error installing plugin" , warning :"Extension Install: Failed to create folder:......" appears, so i tried to update Joomla version to 3.8.10, and another error : "Invalid Login" appears also.

I opened cPanel and update the PHP version to ea-php56.
but still nothing has changed, I cannot update or install .

Anyone can help me plz :(

This is usually folder permissions for the tmp directory (or the parent directory of the one named in the error) - check to see if the directories are writeable by going to System->System information -> Folder permissions tab.

And a friendly reminder to search for your issue in the forums before posting a new question- this one has been answered many times already.

I've checked for the permission of tmp folder and files, they are 0777 and 0644 respectively.
could it be the permission of logs folder ? because whenever i try to update Joomla i got " Invalid login" error.
And do I need to change the permission of plugins folder ?

I alos got this warning of " The PHP temporary folder is not set"
could it be the cause of all that ? and how can i fix it ?

All folders should be 755 not 777.

I changed tmp folder to 777 hoping it fix the problem of installing the extension and the updates.

and now i return it back to 755, try to update the extesion again and i got this error
Error updating COM_INSTALLER_TYPE_TYPE_.
and warning
Update path does not exist.
note :
I'am trying to update Joomla and EF4 Joomla Monster Framework. And Install a new extension.

FPA disabled? How? Please explain or attach a screenshot.

If you read the instructions of FPA, they are easy to follow and others have been able to post the output into their topic.
