JEventDispatcher::getContent() error in Frontend Article Submission

Post by bkegger » Fri Aug 03, 2018 4:14 am

I am getting an error on some of my websites and not others after latest update 3.8.11 while trying to add a new article in list layout:

Error: Call to undefined method JEventDispatcher::getContent(): Call to undefined method JEventDispatcher::getContent()

Just the error and nothing else. Backend is fine to create articles. And I can edit articles that exist already.

This happens on different hosting plans, different templates, and with no apparent plugin causing it. JCE and default editor. All PHP up to 7.2. When I go back to previous version, error disappears and everything works fine.

Do you have the last updated version of this extension?

Thanks for the suggestions.

I do not know what the extension is. I got autocorrected to JEvents in the title of this post, I guess, which IS an extension I have installed on other sites, but the sites this is happening to do not have JEvents.

And the wording in the error is Jeventdispatcher. If this is related to JEvents, I am not sure how it got on the site or how to remove.

I reverted to older Joomla version. All works. Did manual upgrades that fixed two of the sites, but it did not work for all, so I still have a few sites running old version so they can be edited on the frontend.

There is not getContent() function. Did you update from 3.8.10?

You must have a Plugin that is not compatible.

Try to disable (old JCK) Ark Editor, i have the same problem after 3.8.11 upgrade (from 3.8.10)

Hi everyone,
try to disable one third party extension at the time, then see if the error disappears.

This will help to catch the extension that is causing the issue in first place.

Alternatively ... disable all at once and enable one at a time (it's quicker).
