ACL question

Post by YaBoyMichaelD » Mon Jan 07, 2019 4:40 pm

Hi all ,

Just wondering does anybody have any experience with a large set of Users with specific access rights to content on the page.

EG. I have users who need a user manual. There is a base user manual. Parts of this user manual has to be tailored for certain counties (As each county has different contact details associated with it and different times) These differences will be shown through articles. Some users will need to see information from more than one county and a user will need to see information on all counties (As he is the leader).

Is it possible to assign user access levels and groups to achieve this flexibility in Joomla ?

- Michael

Yes, use group inheritance.

Create a group "Base" as a child of "Registered" and a group for each county as a child of Base.
Give the Base group access to the base articles and County groups access to their county articles.

Users that are member of a County group will inherit from the Base group.
