Use URL ReWriting has not removed index.php from menu links

Post by JohnSmithers » Thu Jan 10, 2019 8:29 pm

I have one menu and they have links to various parts of the Joomla! site (obviously).

1. Until an hour ago all my site had index.php ie www.mysite/index.php/somepage.

2. Following these instructions https://www.template monster.com/help/jo ... -urls.html I can access these and all pages with the index.php removed iei www.mysite/somepage

3. However all my menu links are still showing index.php (as in 1).

What should I do to clean these links up (to remove index.php)?

I've seen the "instructions" prepared by the developers of those J! templates and I don't agree with the method. See the following for more detailed information about these "index.php" issues, here:

If you think I’m wrong then say “I think you're wrong.” If you say “You’re wrong!”, how do you know?

Yes I had followed those. I checked through all again. Turns out it was a small error. I had not saved my global configuration; I still had "no" for "Use URL ReWriting". This helped viewtopic.php?t=917949

Thanks for the assistance. I would not have resolved this without your help :-)
