archived contact displayed in the contact category

Post by tychapogoy » Sat Jan 12, 2019 1:48 pm

Dear users,

the list view for contacts category shows archived contacts, too. Is there a way to restrict the list only to published items?

It is also interesting that the search results (smart search/finder) do no include that particular archived contact. It is nowhere to find only by listing a contact category. Opening the contact does not show anything like "archived" -- the display is normal as published. The viewer cannot differentiate between a published and archived contact.

Sincerely, I would expect a different behavior: one should not find it in the contact category, but only by searching for it. Is anything wrong with such expectation, please?

Note: the behavior for archived articles is different. An archived article is listed in its category and is indexed and included in search results.

If those archived contacts are not important, just delete them.(if they are too many, use a query in phpmyadmin)
If they are important, create a category (e.g category A), then collect all those archived in A.
(you may use a query in phpmyadmin to do it so easily again.)
This way you purify that category of archived contacts.
You may also run a query in a layout override of contact category view
There also might be 3rd party extensions for doing activities of this type

They will show to anyone (in a user group) that has edit rights for them but not user groups like Public or registered.

If you are testing front-end, then create a test user "registered" for that purpose and you shouldn't see anything that you don't want your site visitors to see.

Than you for the guidance. Yes, please, they are visible only to those, who can edit them. And with a new PR #22735 to be released, that makes perfect sense :)
