How do i go about custom layout

Post by shaibustephen » Sat Jul 13, 2019 8:35 am

Wordpress magazine frontpage gave room to arrange category post in different parts. For example, all post items in About us category can be displayed individually, so also, product, services, testimony, blogs etc.
The blog section of the joomla featured page gave a similar thing that I am talking about but in its case, it display post from one category or all categories in one block at once. In my own case, I want something like that but it should come so that posts under all the individual categories can be displayed separated. Take a look at wordpress featured page screenshot to know what I am talking about.
What changes should I make to joomla layout or its component to achieve this in home page featured page?

Hello shaibustephen,
This is fairly easy to create.
Create/assign modules to positions in your template with content you want.
If your template does not have module positions in places create them, depending on template you use you will have to modify few files to add them.

Naturally style them via css later on.

I can not give you exact manual shaibustephen, as I do not have all informations on what you are using.
If you want to everride article display you need to create template override for article view and for example add module positions to php load them automaticly as you publish your content/modules.

One of the aproach can also be simple loading modules in your article and styling them to acheave layout you need.
But I understood you that you want to style category view not article view from your first post.

You have quite lot options to choose from.

Did you set the Category Sort Order? That will show all articles from the same category contiguously.
Category Sort Order=No Order will show all articles sorted by article sort order regardless of category.
